I know that for some UC's to accept a transfer the coursework must be done by spring semester and cannot be finished over summer (for example math). I am currently trying to finish my chemistry requirements and I just need one class, but they're all full and I was wondering if I am unable to add on a class for the spring semester, if UCI, UCSB, UCSD, UCLA, USC, UCSC would still accept my transfer if I finished my chem requirement over summer since it's pretty much the last thing I need! Please help!

wldntuktokno, I’m the same boat as you man, but as economics major. I completed IGETC and I’m missing one major prerequisite. I called an admissions officer and asked if I can take a major prerequisite during the Summer and they said yes. But for a missing IGETC course you have until Spring of this year. Also, If you put the course under planned in your application update, and for some reason cannot take it (waitlist, health etc.), just explain in the additional comment section…Hope that helped…here’s the number I called in case you need it. . .(800) 207-1710

Wait, you finished IGETC and need one major prerequisite to finish your IGETC or do you need that class to complete your IGETC? I already finished my IGETC. this is what I need for my major requirements for the colleges (and some not all).

You should still be able to complete major courses over summer, just know it won’t be considered for admission purposes. So, if you were being compared to someone that has the same stats as you, but they’re scheduled to finish their requirements in spring, they would have an advantage compared to someone that finishes one last requirement in summer. You just can’t take any of the required major courses or core requirements (1 transferable math, 2 transferable english) over summer. So, if it says REQUIRED on ASSIST.org you’re out of luck. If you’re trying to take a course that’s just a recommended pre-req, it would improve your admission chances if you finish in spring. Otherwise, if you finish one last one in summer, you’ll just be evaluated as missing 1 pre-req and you should still be able to get admitted.
