So I'm a high school junior applying to UCLA this coming fall. I haven't fulfilled the visual/performing arts requirement because I've only taken two semesters of Art 1 and Piano lab 1, respectively. I'm trying to change my schedule to get Piano lab 2, but if I can't, then I'll probably take a community college course.

The only thing is that I'm out of state. How would that work, then, since the course must be UC-transferable? Should I just compare it to one of the courses on that ASSIST website? I'm thinking of taking Music Appreciation or something.

i think this is something you need to talk to your school counselor about, rather than asking in a forum. No doubt there are plenty of well-qualified people here to give you advice, but the best thing to do would be to get guaranteed accurate information from your counselors. If your school counseling department is less than adequate, then i suggest contacting UCLA directly with your questions. They will tell you precisely what they want and what they accept. This is all in the hypothetical that you do not get the class of course, but better safe and aware than sorry
