“Suppose one gets accepted. He/She has to pay some deposit and apply to some dorm, right? I am not so clear about this, especially about the dorm thingy. Like, suppose I want some XYZ dorm, do I need to apply their or something or just give my name that I am interested and they take in people on first come basis.”
You have access to the housing portal once you send in your deposit. There you can list your preferences for housing (dorm, single/double, habits etc). If UChicago is your first choice and you are accepted, then it’s in your interest to send in your enrollment deposit immediately in order to secure the highest placement on the queue. The higher the placement, the more likely you will get your first choice, assuming preferences and availability. Once you are on the portal, you can update preferences as often as you wish before it closes in the spring. Placement is determined by the enrollment deposit, not by when you first access the housing portal.
I didn’t get the UChicago “ED app is complete” email either. My only guess is that it’s based on whether you submitted through Common App (me) or through the UChicago portal.
I submitted my supplement through the portal and got an email. As long as your UChicago portal checklist says everything is in I wouldn’t worry about it.
I think we should hear from them today as universities usually send a mail one week prior to the decisions begin released…if we assume that the decisions are being released on the 18
The best way to get notification is to watch this thread the afternoon of the 18th. When you start to get about 100 pings on your CC account, switch over to the UChicago portal because they’ve probably sent you something
