Does anyone know exactly when UChicago comes out? Is it Friday or Monday?
@college2022vux The decisions will come out this Monday in the late afternoon (probably around 5pm EST).
Increase EA or ED?
Definitely EA, probably ED as well
What kind of ECs/Activities does UChicago prefer and how much importance is on test scores and grades?
I assume EA had a more precipitous increase than ED
Honestly, they care mostly about your Essays
anyone have any advice for the supplementals ?
Honestly, I wondered why would they want to reduce ED acceptance rates if they want to raise yield? I assume to make up for the increase in applications, they’ll significantly reduce the chances for EA an RD applicants instead
Be yourself
The truth is UChicago increased its yield rate to one of the highest by ED policy, so they will never want to decrease this rate. The drop of yield rate will hurt a university’s reputation very hard than increase of admit rate. I believe the EA number will get high because of UChicago’s recent higher rank, but I assume the ED rate will remain stable because that’s their strategy and I believe students who ED in UChicago is more self-selective because it’s not a very popular school for most students.
@DariusTheGreat I think the ED/EA applications will increase because last year Chicago signaled that they really prefer ED/EA applicants. Apparently they admitted something like 75-80% of the class EA/ED which also explains the high jump in yield compared to class of 2020. RD applications will probably decrease for the same reason.
@ivyoxbridge1 Yes, exactly. I believe ED/EA will be majority of incoming class. But personally I rather think ED will really have an edge compare to EA. I have tried really hard to persuade my own sister of applying ED instead of EA, but it doesn’t work for she wants to be in Brown… I hope she can be admitted in EA round, but EA is really for the HYPS students… So, IDK. If she gets in Brown, everything is settled. If not, and she is defered by Chicago, we might get her switched to ED2.
What percent of applicant accepted early are international?
@assefagha @theoaubreo my dad wants me to wait until he gets home (about 10:30 central time) so i’ll be in bed lol!
EA is pretty much for the students that consider themselves “too good” for UChi. It’s natural that it should have a stricter scrutiny when admitting. I assume ED would have stayed the same, not if, dropped.
Are you sure she would want to be in Chicago if she likes Brown so much? Maybe schools like Wake Forest might be a better fit b/c of Open curriculum
@Dankjewel Many students apply EA because they will need sufficient Financial Aid to attend and can’t commit to ED for this reason.
True, but UChi, as seen in No Barriers, is very committed to providing top financial aid
@assefagha @cambellssoup aw that wait is gonna be brutal…catch me opening it with my siblings in my living room at 4:00:01 exactly
