Just withdrew my application! I was very lucky to get deferred rather than rejected, but I won’t be waiting for RD because UChicago is not the right fit for me. I thought it was, which is why I originally applied ED, but certain circumstances led me to switch to EA and rethink U of C. Good luck to everyone who got deferred in March!
Btw, I have a ~3.9 GPA, 1550, no subject tests, only 2 AP scores submitted, decent ECs, and good LORs, but essays were terrible. Unhooked white male from PA. Deferred Early Action
@cs11booms deferred=they’ll reconsider your app in RD (or ED II, if you were EA and you switch to ED II)
waitlisted=happens during RD, you get put on a waitlist and they’ll accept people if they have space (usually around 100: 25 for current year, 50-75 for gap year) between mid to late april
Basically means if there is something interesting or important about a person that colleges will look at a lot. So if you are unhooked, it means that even though you may have decent test score, a lack in EC’s or something of that nautre is not there. @okeydokeypokey
Son was rejected ED. 36 ACT, 4.0 unweighted, 1560 SAT, 11 AP-all 5’s. Strong extra-curricular. He’s really disappointed. Regrouping and some encouragement will be needed.
Probably got in due to my essay, covering nicknames of all topics. Also do many extracurriculars. I run my own sports website, which has gained much notoriety over the years.
Hi guys, I just go deferred, just wondering what an acceptance letter would look like so if anyone is kind enough to post what their acceptance looks like, that would be greatly appreciated.
I was deferred and shocked I wasn’t rejected. 1320 SAT, 3.7 UW, 4.0 W. Probably because I have very good ECs and recs. I had a very competitive summer internship, and also good essays and a writing portfolio.
Deferred Early Action w/ 35 ACT (English 36, Math 34, Reading 36, Science 35), 1530 SAT (Reading & Writing 750, Math 780), 4.0 unweighted and 4.53 weighted GPA, 13 AP’s (six 5’s and two 4’s, currently taking five), national merit. EC’s aren’t too great but essays were strong. Put my application to be considered in the RD pool. Fingers crossed!
I got accepted! EA, my ACT is 35 and my GPA is 4.5 weighted. I was really confident in my essay and my interview, so that might have helped! I have four AP scores (4,4,5,5) and taking 3 more this year.
@bobettgirl Please tell your daughter that the universe is moving her in the direction/to the place she needs to be even though she had other ideas. With those stats, you could say the universe is shoving her to the place she really needs to be! She sounds like a rockstar, and so the University of Chicago did its part in getting her on the path she’s meant to take.
Deferred, 3.81 UW GPA, ~4.3 W, 35 ACT (36E 36R 36S 33M 9W), 1490 SAT --> 1500SC, mediocre ECs lmao oops, 4 APs (one 4, three 5s) w/ 3 more in progress, essays not bad (I liked them), no interview; is it worth applying ED II or should I just do RD?
