UCI Econ Transfer

im a UCSD econ major, transferred alst year, "hotel moscow" who said his friend said UCSD econ is easy is wrong
UCSD has the one of the best econ in the UC system. Better than UCLA.
How do I know? my cousin just graduated UCLA econ, we here at UCSD take 3 econometric classes required, UCLA requires 1, UCI requires ...? not as much, thats for sure/
you want a good as econ eduation do UCSD, but consider your future, if you want to be a business person, orange county has more internships that San diego, since UCSD is a very eng./bio school

coolstuff: I agree with you. It's never accurate to compare schools with rankings, but here's something that will suffice.
Economic Institution Rankings at IDEAS

I was wondering which school will offer a better future/recuitment? UCSD will definitely give you the bangs for your buck, but how do employers view UCSD against UCLA? Does popularity factor in?

"Thanks...
How important is workload to uci? I take about 3 classes a quarter along with some volunteering. is that ok?"

i go to uci and have econ major friends. they NEVER study and still manage to get decent grades. where do you plan to volunteer?

thanks for the info guys...
I volunteer at a hospital, and at my temple every week. Im also looking for a internship or a job this summer

hmm so im wrong for reporting what my friend said?

san diego's econ program being good really only applies to the graduate programs. and if you're going to compare majors at different schools basing your opinions on the number of classes in one topic you have to take isn't the best way to convince other people.

I don't really know anything about the strength of the econ programs but

just reeked of trying to say, "My program is so tough. It's a million zillion times harder than UCLA's, so it's way better. Totally"

naw dude, you are wrong, take it easy
your friend can say whatever he wants
the same people that teach grad teach us at UCSD, makes sense right? besides UCSD econ is the most analytical, as for the User "lack of sense"
between UCSD and UCLA some people pick UCLA just cuz they are UCLA, it is the job of the student to sell themselves in the right way

naw dude your an idiot, im not trying to show off, im trying to tell this kid the toughness of the program, I donkt like econometrics myself, Why TF would I show it off, besides im actually doing econ. What are you studying and where bigmouth?

mattn your are 17 years old dont be a little smart ass
do you even know *** econometrics is?

ahhahah thanks guys... although i dont really think SD is the school for me.
Is a minor in managment with bizecon from irvine worth getting, or even accounting?

^ if i decide to stay at Irvine, i may also be getting a minor in management because im running out of classes to take. a minor in management is about 9 additional classes so you should be able to finish it by just taking 1 additional class every quarter or cram a lot of stuff during the summer. for you it might be beneficial to your career goal, but I'll prob do it just to boost my gpa( engineering major).

ohhh, would it be beneficial if i wanted to go into consulting or something along those lines?
thanks

it wont hurt.

It certainly can't hurt. Oh and hey coolstuff, I got admitted to UCSD econ! I remember conversing with you through e-mail about it, thanks again for your help!

Actually, I lied. UCSD undergraduate economics is utter crap. M:

The lectures are massive too, so be happy if your professor knows your name, let alone writes you a decent grad school letter.

The trick is convincing the professor you can handle the graduate sections.

hows the class sizes at uci?

So the general consensus is that UCSD undergrad econ is easy?

Sweet.

UCI Economics requires 2 quarters of econometrics.

Class sizes vary. For example, the Intermediate Economics series (required for all Econ majors and basically a pre-req for just about every Econ upper-div class) class sizes are generally about 300 people. While other upper-division econ electives only have 30-50.

thanks, so far what ive gotten is that UCI is not very selective in admission to bizecon from transfer. And that the major itself is not very difficult at UCI?
