UCI Econ Transfer

Anyone have any info on the competitiveness to get into uci econ? Any advice?

Thanks

its ridiculously easy to get in. it doesnt get competitive for econ unless its la or berk

I would say if not LA or Berk, San Diego should be your 3rd choice for econ which is only marginally more competitive but still pretty easy.

thanks guys... so if i only have one of the two calculus classes completed at the time of application i should get in most likely?
Also, I want to go to irvine, i have a lot of family in or around that area

Yes, I am in the same boat as you. I completed only 2 of the calculus courses and was accepted to both UCI and UCSD for Bus. Econ and Econ.

I don't plan to go to UCI, though. Irvine is too dry of a city in my opinion.. that and I live about 20 minutes away lol.

UCSD can be a serious econ major if you take the hard courses, but you can get away with next to nil otherwise.

any advice on irvine?

i have a friend how goes to ucsd. he said the econ there is easy as hell. but then, sd does have a very highly ranked econ program for grad

hmm... i was looking at TAG for UCI, and if i do public health policy or ecology or somthing of the sort for the TAG , (they have no required courses to sign tag, just 2.7 gpa minimum) if i get accepeted in that can i change to econ??

thanks

sorry ignore my last post...
on assist it says "All applicants must complete one course in microeconomics, one course in
macroeconomics, and one semester or two quarters of approved calculus. "
Does this mean by the time i apply i have to have finished 2 quarters of calculus, or by the spring before i transfer?

Sorry for so many questions, just a bit confused

Completed by the spring prior to transfer.

Thanks...
How important is workload to uci? I take about 3 classes a quarter along with some volunteering. is that ok?

Should be okay, expect 4 some quarters though.

oh thanks.. does 3 look good enough to be accepted?

Relax. 3 is fine.

Oh, I thought he meant after transferring. They don't care about the workload as long as you have your 60 units completed.

thanks
for the two social sciences i need , can i do anth 1 and geo 1, or do i have to do say anth 1 and anth 2
