UCI Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@jeetusSwo Well, I withdraw few courses in the fall semester(Not relate to major preq-I already finish all major preq before fall 2018) So my courses that I plan to take in Spring semester change little when I submit my TAG in September. I contacted with UCI in November/ January about that then they said since your requirements already finish it will be okay that withdrawal some courses in the fall semester and change few courses in the spring semester (they said they will see my regular application to see TAG requirements are finished) So I think im okay?

@HelloUC2 you should be fine.

@Bobaislife According to assist, one year of ochem is required for admission to Biology. Operative word - required.

Do we hear back today?

@jnunez32 IIRC last year TAG applicants starting hearing back March 20th

Okay my situation is a little weird.

So I’m transferring from a CCC with TAG to UCI but I went to UCSC last year as a freshman, but in order to TAG your last 30 credits needed to be from a CCC, so I left UCSC and have completed this last year at my CCC.

Major: Computer Science
GPA: Like a 3.75, I had a 3.4 at UCSC and I have. 4.0 at my CCC, but I don’t have my combined GPA.
ECs: 2 Internships under a large software company

Okay but here’s where I’m worried, so I had to withdraw from a major prerequisite (Calc 2) last fall, but I’m retaking it now and will be done by the end of Spring Semester. I talked with a couple of UCI counselors and like all of my CCC counselors and they said as long as I finished Calc 2 before the end of spring semester and maintain a good GPA I should still be fine for TAG.

I noted it in my transfer update but I just can’t stop worrying, any advice to stop worrying?

ur good man

Anyone else get this email?
The date they’re asking for is the summer gap between my high school and college. Wonder why they ask, I assume it’s normal to not apply to summer session after high school Lol

We have received your University of California Undergraduate Application for Admission and
Scholarships. Thank you for your interest in our campus.

We are in the process of reviewing your application. Before we can complete our review and reach an
admission decision, we need an explanation for the gaps in your educational history. Please provide
chronological details of your activities during the following time period:

05/2016 to 09/2016

If you were enrolled in one or more colleges or universities during any part of this time period, please
provide the name and location of the institution(s), the dates of attendance, and a complete list of all
course work attempted and grades earned.

We must receive this information within five days of the date of this message, or processing of your
application may be delayed or canceled.

@taki123 that’s super interesting. I’m fairly confident that must be a mistake. You should let them know that it was summer vacation for you lol

@taki123 you posted this same thing 3 or 4 times. Please try and refrain from reposting. As others already answered, it doesn’t mean anything, and may be in case you took a college course and forgot to mention it. They simply want an answer. They always ask about gaps. Good luck!

Question. I got admitted into UCR, still waiting on the rest of the admissions to be released. I just ran into a dilemma. I’ll be going in as a biochemistry/biological sciences major; completion of physics is required (calculus-based physics), I am currently taking the first half of physics however the second half is not offered at the ccc that I’m attending, which I was planning to take this summer before transfer. Will I be able to take the second half upon transfer?

@jbravomed have you tried calling UCI admissions?

@jbravomed Assist shows that we have a choice between algebra-based and calc-based physics…Would your school allow you to take algebra-based this second semester?

Which CCC are you attending?

@Gumbymom Will I by fine if I only have 59 units by the end of Spring? I will have more than 60 units if AP credits are counted. (UC has a minimum requirement of 60 units for transfer applicants)

@sagaciousforever Lol maybe take a PE class or two?..

@kristinpete Too late though, but anyways I should be fine. I have 62 units with AP. UCI is my safety so I should be fine! One thing that worries me is that not all of those 62 units can be transferred since I applied to UC schools from a 4-year private institution in California.

@sagaciousforever Yeah, I was just kidding.

Honestly, I suspect that they would prefer students who have completed more units. But who knows…?

Any art majors lurking around here?

@kristinpete Yeah probably more units applicants have advantages over fewer units applicants. But students may delay their graduation date if they do not have enough units to be transferred upon acceptance. That also means that colleges can get more money so I guess fewer units students still have good chance if their essays and recommendation letters are good (hopefully lol).
