UCI vs. UCD - Bio

What would be a better choice? I've heard mixed reviews about both schools. Some say Davis's bio program is better while others say vice versa. I want to know which one would be easier to be successful in (good GPA, easy, manageable)

So far I think UCI's bio is tougher mainly because many UCB/UCLA-material students go to UCI to take advantage of less competition and higher GPA. This would make it tough for average students like me. :/

Anyone have any say in this?

Neither school will be easy. Both schools will have their share of students who were also accepted into UCB and UCLA. Choose based on which school you feel most comfortable at after you visit. You will do best where you are happiest.

I don't get your logic of saying that UCI's Bio is less competitive yet at the same time saying it's tougher...

i meant to say compared to ucd, uci would have more competition because majority of ucb/ucla-material students go there to get a higher gpa and stuff.

but collegemom made a valid point. i just hope that if there are some current bio students at uci can give some input on difficulty and competition in their class.

Other than still reading contradiction in your statement, from the Biological students I talked to, you won't really care of who you're competing, if such exist, but the course itself and you yourself. If you get a low GPA, it's almost always likely because you didn't know the material well enough, not because of others around you.

^I second BirdKiller's words. minty331, I have to point out that you're logic here is horrible. UCB/UCLA rejects don't mostly go to UCI. They go to UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCD, and non-UCs. UCI and UCD have equal competition levels. You need to not worry about competition and worry about being able to buckle down and handle school. You say you are average, but, in reality, you can still get an outstanding GPA if you put the right effort into it. If you're not getting that GPA at any school, it just means you aren't trying hard enough and/or you aren't approaching your studies correctly. It's not impossible.

both UCD and UCI have amazing bio programs. i think it's easier to get a good GPA at UCD. but really, choose the school that you'll be happiest with. either the schools are great
