<p>Waitlisted too- Irvine was my top choice. To be safe I filed a SIR for Davis and paid my deposits and if I’m accepted to Irvine I’ll have to decide. Irvine’s acceptance rate was about on par with San Diego this year.</p>

<p>just to update everyone, my mom read an article about how competitive the UC’s were this year. In the article it said UCI had a 31% acceptance rate due to the fact that recent years they had accepted too many applicants for their freshman class.</p>
<p>so maybe they will accept people off the wait list this year, who knows?</p>
<p>Actually, the acceptance rate is around 36% (<a href=“http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2012/fall_2012_admissions_table2.pdf[/url]”>http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2012/fall_2012_admissions_table2.pdf</a>), so I don’t think UCI will be accepting many, if any, students off of the wait list. Housing is already impacted here because of the large number of students who accepted last year, and I’m sure UCI is trying to avoid a repeat of that because now there is a bit of trouble with on campus housing since there will be an abundance of second years, and some of the second year housing is being converted into graduate student housing.</p>
<p>I think the 36% acceptance rate is for all applicants and the 31% rate is for only in-state.</p>
<p>WLed, appealing, and staying hopeful, but this wait is twice as agonizing as March. I’m going on record, this sucks :/</p>
<p>Should I waste $110 for the UC AWPE test if I’m waitlisted at UCI? Going to a community college if I don’t get in, which I probably won’t. :(</p>

<p>My Son (frosh) has been checking each day. Saw on the Zot portal " You have been admitted to UC Irvine!" He checked at 5:30 pm PST when he saw it changed. Happy dance around the house since then.
Admitted to his declared Major.
