@kibbles I forgot exactly the policy but if you know UCLA is the school you want and you’re admitted off the waitlist then don’t hesitate and SIR right away. It’s in your best interest since the priority housing app deadline is coming up
A LOCI certainly helps guys, but just send about 1 or max 2 after a few weeks if y’all havent heard back.
D got accepted off the waitlist yesterday. She is OOS, English student and we were shocked. Have until May 1 to decide. She is deciding between UT Austin w instate tuition v UCLA w OOS cost (roughly double the cost). Her mom and I prefer she stay in state (frankly not sure if she’s ready to go that from home - Houston, she’s just turned 17) and save the money for grad school at a big name school. UCLA was her first choice though and certainly seems to beat UT in most ranking areas plus it just seems like the All American school. Tough decisions but feel fortunate to have the options. Good luck to everyone on here.
did you only have to update your grades in the box too?
@nazarflexalumnus I think general updates as text can be given in some form or the other. (Form/LOCI)
Can anyone tell me what’s LOCI? S waitlist on UCLA. Thanks.
Letter of Continued interest.
I think its an update-based letter to send to the college giving any academic, EC based, or other updates, and give them a few words on the students interest in attending the college for sure if taken off the WL, and their interests and passion specific to the school.
THats pretty much it.
IDK how to send these (pdf attachments via email, some form, or applicant portal updates (IDK if UC’s have this))… but its a good idea to send at least 1, maybe 2 in a full months time span.
any biz econ major here? if so, did you get admitted?
@jjang25 I dont think its a major based selection when admitting, at least thats what they say. But, there’s an element of admits a major that may imply st.
Its very unpredictable.
I am in-state and haven’t heard anything yet. Does this mean I didn’t make the waitlist? Kind of freaking out here.
@TheGuy1 You can’t send a LOCI to UCLA LOL. Why are you lying?
i’m getting really nervous is ucla still sending out waitlist acceptances
@DisgruntledPlant I’m not lying. I just thought that if all.most other schools do take them in some way or another, UCLA does too?
I mean everyone here’s talking about sending one, so I guess they really are? I really dk since i didnt apply to UCLA, but if someone wants to know what a LOCI is, I’ll be glad to help, and not snitch and ridicule people like someone on this platform.
Seems like you made the account just to say that to me as the 1st thing. How nice.
If people wanna know, I’ll share to the best of my knowledge. If people are talking about it, I doubt they’d just be talking about it for the sake of it. I’m guessing they really have to deal with it, hence theyre asking about it.
This information is in general for all the UC’s, but if UCLA does not ask for an LOCI, then do not submit one.
For students who were offered and accepted a space on a waitlist at one of the campuses, can they do anything to increase their chances of selection? Are students ranked?
Whether or not a campus will offer admission to students on a waitlist depends on a number of factors, including the number of students initially offered admission who accept a space by the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) deadline (May 1 for freshman, June 1 for transfers), and campus and department enrollment goals. There is nothing that a student should or can do other than opt-in to the waitlist by the stated deadline. Any additional information submitted that was not requested by the campus will not be considered.
The process for selecting students from the waitlist varies at each campus. A campus might have enrollment goals for a particular major, leading to the admission of students who applied to that program, but not others. Or a campus might admit broadly.
@Gumbymom But on the CDS, most schools, and most top colleges openly admit to a non-ranked WL.
Thanks for the insightful share!
I think the only things to do are LOCIs, being on the priority WL option if ur offered one and really keen on going there, and waiting for the best.
If they ask for something, it should be complied with ASAP.
@TheGuy1 For the sake of other users, especially since you do not attend nor did you apply to UCLA, I’d refrain from giving campus specific advice that is based off of assumptions.
@10s4life Understood. My main purpose was to post a doubt/question I had that was answered.
My kid got in off the waitlist and sent a LOCI. Not sure why some people are saying it’s not possible.
You can indeed send a LOCI. My kid did and was accepted off the waitlist this week.
@kibbles I think most of us are saying that you can’t email anything to the admissions office but rather are limited to what the little additional information box on the portal allows you to do.
