Nursing
My GPA: About 3.84-3.90. Not entirely sure how to calculate it since I went to two community colleges and a CSU
Avg Admit GPA: 3.81

Philosophy

2007 avg acceptance -3.51
2008 avg-3.55
My Gpa- 3.5

Hopefully ill get in! 67% acceptance rate

History
My GPA: 3.9
2008 Avg GPA: 3.64
2007 Ave GPA: 3.53

only problem here is that acceptance rates from 2007 to 2008 dropped from 70.48% to 49.43%… 21.05%!!!

Political Science
My GPA: 3.86
Avg. Admit 2008: 3.65

I’m more worried about Cal’s admit stats for poli sci.

Computer Engineering
My GPA: 3.71
Avg Admit GPA: 3.71
ha… I am on the boardline~~~

American Literature and Culture
My GPA: 3.83
Average 2007: 3.39
Average 2008: 3.46

applied to transfer from UC Santa Cruz… I really hope I get in!

You guys don’t check the link! They have a website with much more detailed, accurate stats up. For example, California CCs and other UC transfer average GPAs are less than people transferring from other colleges. They need higher GPAs to get admitted, thus bringing the total average number up for everybody… but duh ya’ll knew that math, you’ve applied for UCLA!

I know I sound quite hyper, but I was much more worried about my chances until I saw the more precise stats… so hopefully it will be a relief for some of you while we ALL wait to find out…

Here is the link kiddos: [University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/)

(you may also see a better (or worse =/) yield rate for your major)

oh and…
History Major
(from a CC in Ventura County)
My GPA when I applied: 3.60
avg GPA for CC 2008 admits: 3.66
2007: 3.53

a scary place to be right? When I spoke to the rep she told me that the averages can fluctuate often, depending on the number of people who apply for the major… so you never really do know your chances… =( which is the basic principle of statistics haha

oh and yield rates for CC history majors…
2008: 70
2007: 74.2

those values warm my heart, I must say…

We all know about statfinder. The problem is statfinder isn’t nearly as detailed as this. Statfinder groups majors together into categories, so if you wanted to find psychology, economics, or political science they would all be grouped under social sciences. The other link only shows UCLA, but I think it has better details. Cal and the other UCs should make sites like the one UCLA has.

Cal does have such a site.

Link please. I’ve tried looking for one, but never found a good one.

Major: Philosophy

My UC-transferable GPA(as of Fall '08): 3.81

2007 average acceptance -3.51
2008 average acceptance-3.55

stat finder doesn’t group majors, from what I saw. The average numbers and percentages I posted were from the website, for UCLA, for community college students, for history.

so maybe people are not using the tables correctly? I’m kind of confused because it was very easy for me to run through… maybe I didn’t correctly understand what you mean?

I looked up history (and psych for my bf) at every single UC, as well as yield rates, years to graduate, family income, “race”, and so on… (yes, yes, I’m obsessed)

Math / Economics.

57 % Admit rate for 2007 and 70% for 2008

Average GPA 3.52
I am 3.53 and TAP.
:)

Thx cr_brook, however, those numbers are more disappointing than I was expecting.

641 CCC applicants for my major in 2008
174 accepted

27% acceptance rate…weak
Unfortunately, there is no way to check transfer GPAs averages on that page.

loopinc you are my enemy.

(be happy, your gpa destroys mine AND i’m coming from another uc)

yeah that’s the only bummer dem bones

Major: Philosophy

2007 avg acceptance -3.51
2008 avg-3.55
