UCLA Bar - for those questions that take less than 5 posts to answer...

Symphony: Yes, they can eat for free, and they won’t start taking away swipes from you till Sunday night.

Not sure about your question, cubman777, but I’d be curious to know that as well since I’m also in the university apartments this year.

If I go to the gym around 8 AM in the morning, will it be packed? Does the gym ever fill up where there is no room at all?

The weightroom gets pretty packed around primetime hours (5-7pm), and the only free weights are like 50+ pounds :(

Is the weightroom usually freer around 3-5PM or 7-9PM? (I never usually go in, so I don’t know.)

when is the best time thats least crowded?

Similar gym questions, about the treadmills: About how many treadmills are there in the John Wooden Center? What time would be the best to go, when they aren’t all taken? Do you have to sign up to use them?

Yeah, I’m more concerned with the treadmills, etc… I don’t want to walk all the way to the gym with my workout clothes to find that it’s full.

i never actually counted the number but im estimating around 15 to 20 treadmills, similar number of ellipticals and like 10 bikes…

as for you don’t want to go to gym in workout cloth to find it full… just wait a bit, they limit the workout time during peak hours and you should get a treadmill pretty easily… but why not run outside, so much better :)

the gym is absolutely packed from 5p-10p. best time to go is in the morning up until 2p, which is also when the gym is the coolest. the weight and cardio rooms become saunas from 5p to closing.

I was just wondering how you put things up on the walls for the de neve plazas, since they dont have the tackable walls.

i just poster (doublesided) stickers for my poster, regular tape for others…

Hi, I was wondering what was the best way to get from the dorms and back from parking structure 32 (where I guess you get dropped off/picked up for flyaway?). I just checked the campus map and it looks insanely far!

how come on the parking permit for my move in day it states that i have a short term and a long term parking lot? Do we have to move our car to the long term parking lot and if so, then how long can we stay parked in the short term lot?

park in short term to unload your stuff, then long term to give you parents the tour of the dorm and dining halls

ohh so can we stay parked in the short term until we’ve moved all our luggage in and then come back and re-park to explore and such?

Oh they in fact recommend you to drop off your luggage at the short term then have your driver or the people coming with you take the car to the long term parking lot and wait for the shuttle to bring them back to the dorm.

And you can wait in line to check in during the time!

kimmmmmq: If you’re traveling on weekdays you can take the campus shuttle. One of the routes picks you up from Moore Hall (administrative building in North Campus) and drops you off at Lot 32 (and vice versa). It’s a little bit of a trek down to Moore if you’re bringing a lot of stuff, but it’s better than walking through Westwood with everything. If you’re traveling on weekends, you’ll just have to walk or make friends with someone who has a car :)

Are course readers (specifically Scerri’s Chem 20A) sold before the first day of class? When are they usually put up for sale? And where can students buy them?

you buy them at the course reader store in westwood, im sure scerri will talk about it on the first day of class for general directions on where to get them…

you guys got a parking permit for move-in day? Where do I get one?
