@Scholar526 Thank you! I hope all the luck to you too!! And I also have the same question. Do we still get a chance at the alumni scholarship?? I spent a lot of time on those scholarship essays xD
Any berkeley regents people who got waitlisted here at UCLA?
Wait did you get Berkeley reagents but waitlisted at UCLA???
@slpoce10an ya, was nominated for regents but waitlisted here
@mchinn1984 That’s super interesting, just goes to show how unpredictable it can all really be and how they probably look for such different things. Congrats on Berkeley tho, I’m hoping so bad I get in!!
@slpoce10an Thank you! I’m sure you’ll get in, just believe in yourself!
hey all here are my stats for UCLA. Can anyone tell me if I have a shot at Berkeley?

I had a girl who was a senior at my school last year to look over them and she goes to Cal. I wrote one about drawing because I’ve been drawing seriously since 6th grade. Another was about Pre-Cal (math in general, actually) being my favorite subject because it’s challenging. 3rd one was about how my special talent is making anything fit, and it was more about time management when I transferred to my current school because the workload was way more than what I was used to. Last one was about what sets me apart and I said how I am able to take a boring situation into a “fun” one where everyone is connected because I was able to do this in a 3 hr bus ride with my peers.
[ *] Applied for Financial Aid?: yes

[ /list][ b]Reflection
[ *] Strengths: essays, ec’s, and GPA (I really think it was my essays that helped me from getting flat out rejected)
[ *] Weaknesses: SAT scores and not as much academic rigor as other kids, but that’s more of my schools’ faults
just a quick question about housing… if in the very slim chances we are able to be admitted from the waitlist, are we still guaranteed housing??? i’m just wondering b/c im an OOS student and idk if my parents can afford the extra cost of renting an apartment outside of UCLA and i think it will affect me socially and reduce opportunities to meet ppl at UCLA
@Scholar526 just be patient, there’s only one more week till we know. Trust me, im dying of anxiety to know too. best of luck to you though
if you check the waitlist faq on your portal, it says that waitlist acceptees are guaranteed on campus housing. don’t worry!
I know that on the FAQ it says that they don’t rank students on the waitlist, but do you think it is worth asking them for it anyways?
@SpaceManager01 I think that even though they deny ranking students, they probably do… I mean how else would they decide who to admit or not, space permitting ofc. Do you think they already have us ranked prior to inviting us to join the wait list or do you think that they rank us after reading the additional 7000 characters…?
@lostinlife2021 I honestly think that they already have us ranked prior to inviting us on the waitlist… I just don’t see a school as large as UCLA carefully considering every one of the 2000+ waitlist letters they will get in addition to the applications themselves.
@SpaceManager01 Yes! That’s exactly what my mother said too…
Posting for any international students, as it seems most on CC are from the US. DS is a US citizen born/ educated in the UK school system but desperate to attend university in the US. He applied to UC’s as I’m from California and grandparents live there. Has been accepted to UCSD (first choice major Biochemistry and first choice college Muir) and waitlisted at UCLA, awaiting UCB next week.
33 ACT one sitting (E28, M35,R36,S32)
SAT II Maths I 780, Maths II 690, Chemistry 740
GCSE’s (the test UK students take at the end of 10th grade): A*/A+ Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics. A Further Math, History, English Language, English Literature, Geography, Design Technology. B Spanish
AS’s (the test UK students take at the end of 11th grade, in four subjects, A is the highest grade): A Biology, Chemistry, Physics. B Maths (one point off an A).
A Level predicted grades (the test UK students take at the end of 12th grade): A* Math. A Biology and Chemistry.
EC’s are not a focus in the UK, but was on the “varsity” Rugby team for three years, Crew for two years, Field Hockey for two years (team made it to the nationals this year) and was captain of his American Football team (community sport outside of school) for two years. Nothing else by US standards, was admitted into a very selective summer programme at UK universities in biomedical engineering for two summers. Spends a lot of time composing and recording music in his home studio.
if they do at all rank, i highly doubt it is by grade point average or test scores. it would probably most likely involve what ucla needs to complete their class, or how much more funding they’ll need in the coming year ( oos have to pay more vs an is ) but who knows!!
@lilavocado yeah you’re probably right!! Hopefully, we’ll all be able to get into UCLA though. Praying for all of us!
Does anyone know if we can call the admissions office and ask if there were any notes/comments made on our application file? Is there any way we can find out if there was a specific reason as to why we got waitlisted?
i’m not sure, but i would be extremely interested in that as well
