UCLA Class of 2022 - Applicant Thread

I appreciate your response! @10s4life

Another record:

“With more than 113,000 applications for fall 2018 freshman admission, UCLA has set a record for most applicants, driven in large part by a historic increase in applications from California high school students”

Best of luck to all!.

@sandiegodad2017 please share the link to the quote. What is the reason for the increase?

@Camchar88 it’s on the daily bruin newspaper. Reasons: UCLA’s increased popularity, new is news and world report ranking, so cal location, sports.

It’s 113k freshman applicants. It was 97k when I applied for the class of 2020.

can somebody tell me what they think my chances are? out-of-state 32act, 1340sat, 610bio, 700math2, #1 in class, 4.0unweighted (school does not do weighted or offer honors, i’ll not state awards or ECs because they get long

In state applications increased by 12.5 percent, and OOS applications by 8.3 percent.

Essays (rating 1-10, details): I’m really bad at judging my own writing, so I’m not really sure. One was a cut down version of my common app, so I think it’s pretty good. The other three were about extracurriculars. They weren’t too out there or unique, so I hope I didn’t bore them. The rep who came to my school said they wanted more content than story, so I did that. They definitely weren’t anything special or mind blowing though. I have some regrets about not using a different essay. I’m just really hoping they were okay.

Recommendations (rating 1-10, details): N/a

Weaknesses: GPA, maybe essays

Does anyone have any helpful insight into the Musical Theater auditions at UCLA?

@cc4help - I’ve never heard this. Can anyone confirm? Link from prior years?

@sandiegodad2017 it’s called the regents scholars, I know for Berkeley they notify you in January and you’re asked to interview for a scholarship. I think all campuses have them, not sure how they work though
