I was wondering how hard it was to change majors WITHIN the engineering department.(Ex. Mechanical Engineering to BioEngineering). I don’t think I will change my major, but I was just curious as to how hard it would be to switch to another engineering major if I wanted to.
It’s not that hard, but you can’t change until you’ve been at UCLA a minimum of two quarters. The majors that it’s hardest to get into is CS and CS&E. For those majors, you need to take CS 31, 32, and 33 and get B’s or better in all of them. MechE is also somewhat impacted. The departments each have a capacity they can operate at, so they make sure that they don’t let in more students than the department can handle.
You are only allowed to change your major once, so if you change it, you better be sure about it.
Late reply, but thanks @alicantekid !!!
