***I may very well be rescinded, hence my hesitation in posting. I dropped one major pre-req, resulting in a W. This will leave me with 3/4 pre-reqs completed. Hopefully UCLA will get back to me this week! That would go a long ways toward alleviating my uncertainty and anxiety! Regardless, I’m thankful to be accepted preliminarily. Wish me luck.

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses):

Extracurriculars & Honors/Awards: Tutor/School Stockroom/TA (hired by professor, not school)
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Estimated Family Contribution(EFC)/Income Bracket: 50K-55k (both parents)
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses):
I’m honestly not sure. I’ve taken an average of 23 semester units for the whole time I was here, so maybe they liked my rigorous course load? My last 2 semester’s GPA’s were 3.72 and 3.76, so maybe they saw an upward trend. I’ve also completed the computer science series, biology series, chem series (including O-Chem), math series, and physics series, along with IGETC. My personal statement was rushed and upon revising it after submission, I found a few grammatical errors, but the main message in my statement was risky and I guess paid off.

This was really unexpected and I’m very grateful to be offered admission to UCLA. I will most likely attend because of the amazing financial package and of course, great major!! Btw, thank you everyone who has been through this emotional rollercoaster with me. Go Bruins!!!

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses): I honestly don’t know why I was accepted. I wasn’t expecting to but I got in so. . . But I suppose if anything I was accepted out of diversity. I am half chinese half american, and lived 10 years overseas at an international school. Then I moved to Texas and oklahoma for high school. Besides this I would say I was admitted also because I am currently enrolled at 2 community colleges both equally up to 20 hours a semester and that perhaps they saw my work ethic. But other than these reasons, I don’t particularly know why I got in.
Applied: UCSB, UCLA, UCB, UCR, CSUF

State (if domestic applicant):CA
Estimated Family Contribution(EFC)/Income Bracket: Low income. No family contributions.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses):
HOLLISTIC REVIEW IS REAL!!! They had to have read through everything and put it into consideration as to why my GPA is low. Even though my GPA is low I have an upward trend in grades. I’m sure that really stuck out. I also talked about how my grades were low because I have to help my Mom out, and I plan on not working my first quarter so that my grades will be better. I’m also part of CCCP (http://www.aap.ucla.edu/c-c-c-p/) which helps low income/minorites transfer. All of these things contributed to my acceptance but I’m sure CCCP was what really got me in.
Applied: CSUF, CSULB, Cal Poly Pomona, SDSU, UCD, UCB, UCLA, UCI, UCSD
Accepted: CSUF, CSULB, Cal Poly Pomona, CSUCI UCD, UCLA, UCI
Rejected: SDSU
Waiting: UCB (definitely not expecting to get in lol)
Waitlisted: UCSD
I just wanted to let future applicants know to never give up. So many counselors at my school, and UCLA discouraged me to not apply because of my grades. I took it upon myself to research what I needed to do to get here. I encourage you to work hard, stay determined, and do this for yourself! Ignore all the negativity and use it as motivation. Also, you guys should apply to CCCP because they do give priority to applicants in this program. I’m still feeling completely blessed for the opportunities community college has offered me.
