oh yeah, lax I am thinking of living in the suites, how bout you?

I'm doin C cuz I have to go back home for my sisters HS graduation (east coast) and already have all that planned. I dunno, I'm gonna live wherever they put me haha. Haven't really looked to much into it yet.

here you go lax

located under summer sessions website:

UCLA Undergraduates
UCLA College students may enroll in up to 18 units. Undergraduates from other UCLA schools may enroll in up to 16 units. UCLA undergraduates wishing to enroll in more units must obtain approval from their college or school.

oh and the housing rep said suites are filling up fast, he said if interested apply immediately.

Ya I'm waitin until I get my Berk decision. I'm still pretty sure I'd hit up UCLA, but if I get into Berk I wanna drive up there and check it out just so I dont have any regrets. Are most classes at ucla worth 4 units? I mean, since they are on quarters and everything? Isn't one quarter unit = .67 semester units?? That's always the impression I got.

the life sci class I am taking is 5 units, not sure about others though.

Is that with a lab? Those ones are usually more...

^yeah, forgot about that.

GET BACK ON TOPIC! HAHAHA

So... which plaza is recommended? (Private bathrooms and spacious room)

ahhhhhhhhhhhh

no a/c in saxon suites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ha, ac is a must...

i am a transfer student and i would definitely recommend you to live on campus. I lived in apartment and I wished I had made a better decision.

1) you can meet more people in dorms provided that you are a transfer and you already missed 2 years of time meeting people in UCLA. and it's SOOOO hard to meet friends in class because classes are HUGH. I mean really HUGE. it's really hard to meet friends in a class of 300 people (i don't know your department but for my department-econ, it is)
I managed to know friends because I joined a sorority on campus not because I study in a major with huge class...

2) finding a good roommate is a PAIN! if you live in apartment you might probably have to sign a contract with the apartment. It is so bad because MOST of the apartment managers suck because of the high demand of apartments they don't care to lose you. and they charge a lot of security deposits and some of them don't even give you back a penny at the end of your contract.

Hope it helps...

^ THANK YOU! Can we choose which plaza we want to be in? Also, I hear that most of the upperclassmen move out of on campus housing to off campus housing. Is that true? So most people living with me would be 1st and 2nd years, no?

you can't choose which plaza. You are right that most of the upperclassmen moved out of dorms to apartments or to frat/sorority houses. It's likely that you will be living with 1st and 2nd years, but also, you will have a chance to live with 3rd year too because many transfers still prefer to live in dorms.

if somebody did not like the housing assignment they received, can they appeal? because for transfers, if you decide to live on-campus, they assign you in the worst housing units ever! saxton and hitch suites, and hedrick (which are so far away from the rest of the world)

i put all three housing preferences to be residential halls (in hopes of getting into dykstra or rieber) because they aren't in the boonies and most importantly affordable with meal plan.

^FREAKKKKK Why would they give use the worst housing?!

they don't assign you the worst housing ever! you can choose to live in suites and all suites are pretty much the same! saxton, hitch and hedrick are far but they are really nice dorms. not the WORST ever
but, in case you REALLY don't like the one they assign you, you can appeal, but there's no gauranteed that you can change provided that dorm spaces are limited. and also, you have to accept what they give you first in order to appeal.

Anybody know if you can ask to be paired up with a student the same year as you for on campus housing?

is that possible we can get on campus apt, like with our own room and bath??

sry this might be a dumb question.............but im really have no idea about UCLA's housing...

THANKS EVERYONE

Bumpppppppppppppppppppp

I'm probably living on campus. The housing on campus is really not bad and in some cases is really nice. I'd say as long as you don't get Rieber Hall (which is the oldest and smallest dorms) I think you're fine. I'm pretty sure most transfers go to Saxton or Hitch though.
