After submitted my ISR... there's an option where you can select/design your own xxx@ucle.edu email address...

But it wouldn't let me, instead of saying

"Your UCLA-email address, xxxx@ucla.edu was created when you set up your UCLA Logon ID, and cannt be changed..."

any1 have any ideas on how am I be able to change it, cuz I really don't like my UCLA logon ID, it was too privacy to mention out later on...

Is the xxxx your name or something?
I haven’t sent my SIR yet, so I don’t know.
As far as I know, the other UC’s email all use the individual’s name as his/her college email address.

For example,

A person named Eric Jayson Simpson will either have his email address look like ericjs@uci.edu or ejsimpson@uci.edu.

ok… I wanted to use my name…

for example:

my name is: Calvin Chen, and birthday is 5/7
then the way I want my email is: calvinchen@ucla.edu/email
But on my UCLA LOGON ID: it was different…I designed it time ago… which I totally don’t like it to be my UCLA official email. mrkcchen57@ucla.edu

sigh…

when you created your UCLA logon ID, you essentially created your email name, too.

sorry :(

damn it… do u know by any chances, i can call or even go to the admission to change it?

i mean, you can try… but so far as i know, part of your record is already being kept under that name… imagine if they allowed all ~25,000 people to change it at will… it’d be hectic.
then again, it’s still early, but i wouldn’t get your hopes up.

to be fair, it did tell you to be sure about it when you made it, as it would be permanent.

yeah… definitely…

damn, imma gonna call admission tmw and see wut happens

Don’t be sad too much. People might just perceive the “57” as your height or something, unless you put something like calvinchen19890207 which is definitely obvious.

Can I change my UCLA Logon ID?

No. UCLA Logon IDs are permanently tied to your 9-digit identifying number. If you are are not satisfied with the UCLA Logon ID you chose, you are free to set up an alias to use for email purposes. Information on aliases is available at [BOL Email Alias](http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/accounts/alias/)

this is probably what you’re looking for.

sigh… I emailed them an hour ago…
about the issue on change email/logon id…

I would even considering to pay for them to change it…

and… thx guys… for the info.

Omg thank you socal1017 for creating this thread. Trust me, your ucla email doesn’t even come close to how ridiculous mine is.

That email alias seems like a real good alternative…I just hope it works X[

Thanks JetForcegeminix for the alias link and info.
I made my UCLA email with more numbers than I wanted; it wasn’t as professional as expected.
Thanks again for this info, I can now be confident giving out my email address.

Bumpity bump

thanks for the help with regards to the email alias. I chose a lame ucla id, and being able to input a new email address as an alias is the most convenient thing ever. (and its great because my emails are the same throughout gmail, yahoo, hotmail, and now ucla) :))

To reiterate, if people haven’t seen it, you can change the UCLA email address that people will see

ie if your UCLA I.D. is " eat***** " (at our orientation session, the dean of students did inform us that somebody actually made this their logon id), and your email address is
eat**@ucla.edu, you could make it so that an email alias, say richard.jefferson@ucla.edu is the one that you hand out to people and you will still receive emails at eat**@ucla.edu.
