im majoring in economics and minoring in biology. i want to keep medicine open as a career option, but as of now, i want to get my MBA and go into investment banking.

which do you think i should choose?!

im majoring in economics and minoring in biology. i want to keep medicine open as a career option, but as of now, i want to get my MBA and go into investment banking.

which do you think i should choose?!

Under those circumstances - it doesn't quite matter. You'd be better served if you were in Haas at Berkeley.

Definitely Cal if you want to go into I-banking.

Harvard or Yale? No wrong answer--just make the best of your decision.

also keep in mind to check out both campuses, going to college is not all about who is got the better program for your major...

I'm a Cal student, that bio minor will have to be unofficial, in the College of Natural Resources, in bioE, or a double major

The real question is, are you cute? If you are cute then I strongly suggest that you come to UCLA. If not, then I would suggest Cal.

Medicine or I banking? Ambitious aren't we. Hahaha.

If you do Econ with a minor in Bio, make sure you cover all the necessary classes for premed prereqs. Not sure if minors cover that.

mrmoo, ambition is a must, is it not? :P prereqs shall be taken care of, double major if necessary.

honestly, grad school matters a lot more in my opinion. which of these two schools will allow me to get into...lets say, an ivy business school or a top notch med school? >><< sorry, im being blunt here!

and im an international student but a cal resident. so well, nomatter what, i get next to no aid from privates right now and i dont think its wise to dish out $200 000 for undergrad education, so id rather turn down privates at this point. got rejected by stanford anyways, so not too hopeful (but then again, i applied for aid, so i was pretty much thrown out im guessing...).

so. UCLA or CAL? i need to be able to start and get a club/non-profit business going asap once i get to school ; i started it in high school, i think it has a LOT of potential and i feel strongly that i need to bring it with me wherever i go. i need a school that's going to allow me to make an impact. which do you think fits the bill?

honestly you sound more like cal... i have no logical basis for that opinion, but, cal just seems like a better fit for you.

no, i'm not biased... it's just a feeling i got.

Agreed with liyana . . .

reallyy?! hmm...i visited san fran and drove around berkeley, and i visited UCLA and took a tour, and i kind of liked UCLA much better.... but im concerned if i'll be at an academic disadvantage in terms of grad school. is that true at all?

also, another concern is the fact that the two careers im concidering are high stress to begin with. so maybe undergrad should be a little less stressful and a little more enjoyable?(: is that better at LA as is rumoured?:P

to what? Applying to Wharton 6-7+ years from now?

If your entire decision hinges upon business school and banking, go to Berkeley (Haas).

Cal definitely has a better reputation...but if you're ambitious, I don't think it matters that much.

i just sense you as fitting at cal more... not to say you wouldn't fit in here, but, you give off a more cal-ish vibe. i grew up in the bay area and have many friends who go there, so i'm not just making it up.

doesn't matter much. Cal has a better program for econ/business but in the end, it's not worth being miserable for a slight advantage.

If you want to go into IB it's Cal no question. Haas is one of the top 10 recruited places in the country whereas if you go to UCLA it's going to be almost impossible to break into the NYC branches of BB's.

Which is better for music opportunities for music major or not?

Doesn't matter...You'll live on 30k/yr by working at starbucks while trying to make your "music thing" work out. You'll marry an emo chick who thinks you are so "intellectual" and adores your macbook while living out the rest of your life in Seattle bashing "the man" with your hipster friends.

Talking about his/her realities - not your fantasy, Lax.

omg
that is seriously freaky
because i'm majoring in econ/international area studies and i want to go into ivestment banking. I'm also keeping my options open to medicine and i can't decide between cal and ucla!
You're literally in the EXACT same boat that i'm in.
