Heyy so I'm a college student looking to take classes at UCLA this summer. Can anyone tell me what life at UCLA is like over the summer? Not gonna lie, I go to a school thats pretty techy and boring so I do want to hang out in LA and have fun, lol. Are there parties over the summer? Whats the food/dorming like? How is LA's social scene??

BTW- if anyone can answer these questions for USCD that'd be great, too!

thanks

To be honest, it’s a little slow. Not too many on-campus activities and most of the clubs/organizations don’t meet over summer. But I like taking classes over the summer since overall it tends to be more chill despite being crammed into 6 week sessions. From past experience I usually end up with more free time than anticipated. The gym gets less crowded and Real Madrid visits in late July if you’re into that. I’m sure the movie premieres in Westwood still go on. The rest of LA is a Lyft/Uber/bus ride away (I’m guessing you won’t have a car), there’s TONS to eat and see. Downtown LA, the beach, LACMA, Griffith Park, Hollywood, I could go on and on. While you’re in Westwood, make sure to stop by Diddy Riese, and check out the Hammer Museum and Geffen Playhouse

Session C is the most fun in terms of things to do/people here

Very curious about this too. I am a law student from PA who will be living at UCLA [Margan Apartments] during my summer associate job. Anyone know anything about what the apartments are like in the summer?

If you attend UCLA summer school for a “UCLA experience,” you’ll probably be pretty disappointed. Not much goes on in the summer in terms of activities/events.
