I enrolled into a PE class in the beginning of my spring semester but I had already updated my TAU and did not include the one unit PE class. Unfortunately I was not able to attend the PE class mid semester due to family issues and was withdrawn by my instructor. The PE class is not a major prep course so I was wondering if I should still report it even if it was not on my planned courses on my UC application? I am also wondering as a Gender Studies major if I am able to drop organic chemistry 2 and organic chemistry 2 lab if it is not my major prep class. I want to avoid doing poorly in organic chemistry 2 and I need to be taking that class in order to be enrolled in the lab so subsequently I would be dropped from both. That would put me as no attendance in my community college in the spring. How can this affect my admission contract? I have done all the prerequisites for Gender Studies and surpassed the 60 unit requirement to transfer and have completed my IGETC. I really hope this does not affect my admissions to UCLA. Please help!
(the admissions workers were absolutely of NO help when I called.)
You should try calling them again. The actual school is going to be more help because they know the specific policy. If you were enrolled in a class and withdrew, regardless of what class it was, you need to report it. Also, why are you taking Organic Chemistry II if you are a gender studies major? Is it a general education requirement?
Yeah I am also going to go on campus and ask in person to with copies of my transcripts and UC app. When I called the lady just told me that she can’t give me hypothetical answers. She just said they would have to review my entire transcript and go from there. I’m just really worried. I am taking ochem two because I am pre-med and biology major. I just got accepted into UCLA with my alternate major, gender studies which is fine because I can still do med school with that major. I just need ochem for med school prerequisites.
I was in the same position, except I’m going to UCI!
You should definitely email your counselor or admissions and report it. It shouldn’t even be a big deal
When I told my counselor she said it was fine.
Wait, but if you’re going to medical school why are you doing poorly in O-Chem II? Are you going to have to end up retaking it? It doesn’t matter if you got accepted as a gender studies major, you’re still performing poorly in a core academic class.
I got accepted to UCI as a bio major. What was your story exactly?
This semester hit me really hard. I had been getting straight As in my other core classes but like I said I ran into some issues mid semester that really ruined my chances of getting better than a C in ochem 2 which I know I am capable of doing really well if things hadn’t gone the way they did. Hopefully if UCLA doesn’t revoke my admissions I would retake ochem 2 there.
Hello, I’m running into the same issues with UCLA. I also was admitted to gender studies and had to drop Ochem II due to family circumstances. I called but they kept saying they can’t go off of hypothetical answers. Did you go to UCLA? what did they say about you dropping P.E and Ochem? I planned to enroll in another class but it was full so I couldn’t enroll but its still on my TAU so I’m unsure what to do about that.
everybody tells me since it’s not a major prereq and doesn’t affect anything (igetc, unit fulfillment, major requirements) I should be fine but I am extremely nervous.
