I'm really confused I don't know what to do. UCSB has always been my first choice but I don't know if should stay one more year and apply next year or just go to UCR. Help please :)

Look up the average admit GPA for UCSB. If its higher then your GPA, then just go to UCR . Don’t say " well I’ll do so much better this year, IF i get all A’s ill have a higher GPA, " . If your GPA is around it , say within .2 then you have to think about it, the thing is with the budget cuts its only going to get harder to get in to any UC campus

Sandybox: What major are you looking at? &nd, what are your stats? Like what “thisislife” said, you kind of have to look at what your current GPA is. Also, I stayed an extra year because I wanted to go to UCLA over another UC. In all, I will be staying three years at CC, instead of two. If this has been your dream school then go for it! All the best! :]

Thank you both for your responses. Well my GPA will be 3.0 or so around the end of spring and about 3.1 at the end of summer so I will able to TAG next year for SB and my major is Psychology or Psychology Law and Society at UCR. I have done my major pre-reqs for SB and I’m just missing one.

Keep in mind for many schools the TAG GPA is going up . Personally I would submit a SIR to UCR and then if after this Spring your GPA isn’t significantly better just go to UCR .
You playing with a "what if " machine right now . The last thing you want to do is slip up, have a GPA of 2.98 and still not able to tag, theirfore wasting a year . Most of us are going to grad school anyway, so just focus on getting the B.A. done.

I called SB and they told me their TAG will stay the same, I did SIR to UCR just in case, so we will see how I end this semester it all depends on that. Thank You!

Yeah man, I had to turn down a Davis waitlist spot since they wanted me to RAISE my GPA . Even though as a Poli Sci Major UCD would be so much better ( Sacramento internships!!! ) I’m not crazy enough to gamble with my future like that.

I’ll be at UCR next year as a Poli Sci major, good luck
