UCR, UCD, Cal Poly, UCI

Hello,
I’m wondering what are my chances to get into these schools.
I have a 3.8GPA and a 26 ACT. Im taking one in september again. Over the course of the summer, I am volunteering at a nonprofit group that helps low income kids learn how to build and repair bikes. In addition, I play competitive soccer for club and school. I’m also Asian so I’m not sure if this will be a factor.

Also, I’'m wondering about what career I should pursue. I was thinking about kinesiology and exercise science but UC’s don’t offer it. Any suggestions on anything?

Thank you!

Good for UCR. Definitely try to get up to a 28 for the other 3.

Exercise Science is hot now, especially out here in NY. However, considering UC’s don’t have it, I would shoot for Athletic Training (some schools have that) or Nutrition. Somewhat similar to Exercise Sci.

Calculate your UC GPA: http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

For Cal Poly SLO, use the same calculator but include 9th grades in the calculation. Your GPA looks solid, but ACT below average for all schools listed except UCR. You might want to consider CSULB and CSUF which have very good Kinesiology programs also.

Work on that ACT and your UC essays to help you chances. Good luck.

If you are interested in Kinesiology, you should take a look at SDSU as well. They have an outstanding program and you won’t have any trouble getting in with your stats.
