@bluandwaves15 my son did TCL too…such a rewarding and competitive program to get into. You got this…keep the faith! Best of luck to both of you tomorrow…and you already have good choices… so be proud =D>
stressing real hard bc I got accepted into the Dance major (audition based) and I’m hoping that helps my admission rates but its so hard to know with all the crazy stuff happening with the UCs this year. So far I’ve gotten into UC Davis, Boston University January-London program with some grant money, and Chapman with over half tuition scholarship. Waitlisted at Cal Poly SLO for Bio, rejected from UCSD :(, UCLA, and Northeastern… SAT is 1410 (740 Math and 670 reading/writing) with 4.3 W GPA, ranked 6th in class last semester (out of 320)… nervous esp bc UCs like to take out of state students so they get more money and I’m in state, white, and not first gen… really hope the dance acceptance helps pull me through
@JaqueBear Wow, just goes to show one should never assume! I saw NYU, Tufts, Fordham on your list and made some unfair assumptions about your family’s financial situation. My sincerest apologies.
@collegedreamer167 My daughter got in early, through the chancellor’s reception on Sunday. They said that there were 115,000 applicants and 6000 freshman. This year was their highest academic class on record.
i’m so so nervous i feel like i’m on level for ucsb but so are so many of you all<3 wishing everyone luck tomorrow!
I am not sure why, but I got my acceptance earlier today, at around 3:00 PST. Some of my other friends also got their acceptances today.

Congrats to everyone else who was accepted, I haven’t seen any acceptance posts yet? Perhaps I am the first to post in this forum but I haven’t checked through it. Good luck to everyone tomorrow.
@xxkookiexx and @am013384 are giving me HELLA hope. My stats are extremely low, however my essays and EC’s are phenomenal. I am an OOS female applicant from New York that applied for Spanish in the college of L&S. My ACT composite score is a 22 (I know ugh), and my uc gpa is a 3.3-4 ish. Ucsb is my top school and I’m getting extremely nervous but in my essays I talked about how I transformed an entire summer camp, my ADHD and how it has affected my testing, my passion for Spanish, and tennis. I described my Ec’s pretty well but I’m still getting nervous. I’ve been rejected by UCSC, Chapman, SCU (lol why’d I even), Fordham, and bing. I know I’m reaching for the stars but I’ve been California dreaming for years. Ucsb and uci are my last hopes for Cali. I hope I get admitted…
I also forgot to mention I’ve taken like 5 AP courses & did awful in apush and ap English (yikes) but i really hope ucsb can see past these marks and recognize my capability through my ec’s & essays.
@froggypop no I didn’t get to check in time during the leak but I am hoping I do—we have similar stats. I also picked biological sciences for my major , I have a 4.55 Weighted, 3.96 UW, 31 ACT and I also didn’t submit my SAT. I’m in state, white and a female . Got waitlisted at UCLA and UCSD so I’m hoping for SB. Are you female or male? Any special hooks?
Good Luck today everyone! Especially if UCSB is one of your dream schools!!!
Getting tougher every year.
Beyond academics, UCSB sold me on the friendliness of its facility, administration and students plus you just can’t beat the view.
@quinoa721 im female too lol. I didnt think that I had any extra hooks but was in a program that let me be mentored by a person in the career i want to go into
Is anyone else’s portal shut down?
@Kynediv ye
They really should stop stressing the GPA and focus on SAT; it is a better measure of academic aptitude. GPAs are very subjective. I had a 3.3 GPA at one school at 4.5 at another without changing my work ethic.
That’s why they do school profiles and take class rank into consideration @cocoonutty to try to account for the difference in difficulty between schools
I couldn’t disagree more. Great SAT or ACT scores can be achieved with the right tutor + $, whereas you work on your GPA over the course of 4 years.
@froggypop You and my daughter sound EXACTLY the same! She applied to UCSB for biological sciences, 4.5 W, 3.96 UW, 31 ACT, did not submit SAT, White female, in-state, top 5% of her class (~700 students). She was waitlisted at UCLA & CP SLO. Accepted to SDSU (honors), UCI (honors), ASU (honors), CSULB (honors), Univ. of The Pacific (honors). She really wants UCSB!!! Good luck today!
@cocoonutty an sat score is a reflection of how you did on a saturday morning, gpa is how you did through four years every single day.
I meant my last post for @quinoa721 not @froggypop … sorry
My daughter’s school doesn’t do class rank.
