What happened with your little glitch? Technology can really be a bitc*,
But for those of us that didn’t peek, when you experienced your little leak,
We are in a frantic state, waiting to hear about our fate, so please o’ please, don’t be late.
@redwoodcity This is class of 2021 admits (taken from UCSB’s website):
Admit rate —
Overall - 32.8%
Admits - 26,879
Applicants - 81,828
California Residents (% of admits) - 69.0%
From what I understood, they are expected to add 10% more in-state students this year.
Someone please help! I checked my admissions yesterday and was rejected, but now I’m hearing it was a leak or something? can someone help me understand what is happening?
I heard on a college FB page that notifications won’t be out till 3:00 pm today. Anyone else hear that? My son is waiting to hear ( along with still waiting to hear from UCR. ) Sadly he was waitlisted from UCSC which according to him was the only CA school he would have considered since his desire is to go to the East Coast. But obviously he still is curious where else out here he’ll get into. Good luck to you all!
@andreq, it’s actually on ucsb’s portal that states notifications will be out today at 3pm pst. Yesterday’s leak was a mistake. On their portal yesterday, they made the mistake to state that the portal was going to be down from March 19 at 10AM pst to 3PM pst, and when 3pm came around, the portal opened. The message right now states that the portal will be available again at 3pm pst.
@redwoodcity: As of last year, the UC Regents have limited all campuses to approximately 20% of their student population to out of state/international students. They are trying to give in-state students more spots in these schools.
@Gumbymom What you’re saying supports what I had stated on the last page. UCSB has 69% California residents in their 2017-2018 class and they are looking to add another 10% this year, making it ~80%. I thought I remembered hearing about the UC 80% cap for In-state freshman. Phew! When I saw the comment re 95/5% in favor of OOS admissions, I have to admit that I freaked out for a moment.
