UCSB Admission - Class of 2022

@collegedreamer167 well, my daughter was accepted at ucsb for pre-chem, but it looks like she’s leaning more towards Clemson, so I think that’s one spot opening up.

@DDclass2018 Congrats to your daughter!

@texcalmom I am unfortunately not on the waitlist but I have a lot of new information that I didn’t mention.

Accepted: Political Science

GPA: 3.48
ACT: 30
Long list of extracurricular activities involving heavy leadership in my school and community
Great essays

Also accepted at: SJSU, Humboldt State, CSUCI
Wait-listed: UCSC
Rejected: Cal Poly SLO
Awaiting: UCI, UCB, SDSU

In case anyone is wondering, I contacted UCSB admissions and they said that they do not send out an email to accepted students. They only update your portal and mail you a package.

How do you access financial aid letter?

@collegedreamer167 I don’t think that’s true. I didn’t write about any hardships at all in my essays, and neither did a few of my friends and we’ve all been accepted to UCs

I’m on the waitlist and the site seems to be down for maintenance until 12pm… I won’t be hearing back until May though right?

@whathaveidone5 Um… My son was put on the waitlist for UCSC and it’s the only college he would’ve even given consideration to out here in California. They have said on their website for those who are put on the waitlist they will not be hearing until around June 1 and it even says that those who were waitlisted should accept another offer because being on the waitlist does not guarantee admission into the University. And if they should admit a student from the waitlist even though you have already committed to another school by that point, schools do understand that some students have been waitlisted at other universities, so if the school you were waitlisted at was you’re number one choice and they end up admitting you after the May 1 deadline which is what UCSC will be doing at least… You let the other school know that you had already made a commitment to. You won’t get your deposit back but at least they will know that you will be attending a different university.

I am UCSC wait-list. What is the chance?

Anyone admitted with Dyslexia or similar disability?

Received UCSD packet Yesterday. Hoping UCSB will mail a fun packet as well. So sad UCSB and UCSD both scheduled admitted student day for 4/15. Sure would have been fun to attend both!

@CopperlineX2 Yeah, what’s up with that scheduling? We had already planned to go to Triton Day but now don’t know whether to go to UCSB or not. Haven’t taken an official tour of UCSB yet, just stopped by on a trip last year. And UCSB doesn’t have a regional reception either, at least as far as I know. I’m waiting on D to decide which one she wants to go to.

UCI was S’s original dream school, but now he’s curious about the other 2 as well. He needs to email Cal Poly to withdraw his app from their waitlist. He has reservations about UCSB’s location. He thinks it might be like being stuck at a beautiful summer camp for 4 years!

I have received acceptances from UCSB, UCSD, and SDSU. I’ve been rejected from UCLA, CSULB, USC, Occidental, and waitlisted from LMU. I am interested in Film Production, and I’ve heard CSUN has a good film program, while UCSD has a Visual Arts- Media program, and UCSB just has film studies. I know that UCSB is an hour and a half or more from LA and UCSD is over two hours I think. Which college would be the best choice if I’m trying to get into the film industry as soon as possible?

My daughter was admitted to UCSB and has not received an email.
She read somewhere that UCSB doesn’t send out emails, only uses the portal and mails admission letters.

There is a financial aid tab on your UCSB portal.

My son did not receive an email either, thought he was admitted.

So, daughter got into UCSB. They said financial aid estimates were supposed to be out, but every time she’s checked the financial aid link, it will only state that there’s no available financial aid info at this time. Is everyone else getting this too, or is there something else my daughter needs to do like login somewhere.

@DDclass2018 My D’s financial aid showed up a couple nights ago. There is a link that says “check my financial aid status” at the top of the screen after you log in where it tells you “You’re Admitted!”
