@auracle I was just talking to the dad of a Cal Poly SLO bioengineering senior and he was talking about all the awesome projects he’s doing on campus, including growing skin in a lab and making a prosthetic leg for a guy so he could ride his bike. He had great things to say about the program.
(My son is going to Cal Poly next year in a different engineering field)

I sent in my appeal in the mail on April 2nd, and it showed up on my portal as being received on April 5th. The next day I checked and it said I was admitted? I was like oh wow that’s not the speed I was expecting there, but no complaining there.
I just really talked about my passion for Computer Science. That’s the major I really wanted, so I talked about different life experiences I have had, as in applying for high positions in my school or clubs I was a part of, and showed not only my successes but many failures but what I did about it. I was straightforward and said that I really just wanted to go to UC Santa Barbara for Computer Science, and said that I would keep trying even if it meant transferring or whatever. Just being really straightforward and such.
I hear that you’re SUPPOSED to hear back like second week of May or something like that. Being because the college wants to see what their class sizes are looking like and stuff like that.
Also, something I would have done is add in more physical evidence of my accomplishments. Like I wouldn’t say a huge package, but I have read online of successful appeals including pictures of accomplishments, and stuff like that making it all the more personal.
@DDclass2018 sorry for the overdue reply. i just talked to my school counselor and she told me if you dont have any info on financial aid, its because the school did not recieve the fasfa information. i logged into my fasfa and realized that i had not checked ucsb at all. but its not too late to send your fasfa to sb; all you do is add ucsb and submit.
