Pretty sure all Regents notifications went out the same day, but receipt would depend on where you are. Last year the letter was dated Feb 14, it took two days to reach us in NorCal, but I expect others took less or more time (it was just sent regular USPS first class mail).
If we did not get the chancellor invite does it mean that we are not being offered an admission at UCSB?Or is chancellor invite only for a certain top percentage of admitted students and those that didn’t get it still have a shot at UCSB?
@momtomusicians: The Chancellor invite is for only top students. Majority of the admitted students will not get the invite.
Thank you @Gumbymom I am relieved. DS did not get it though he got the alumni scholarship email to UCLA.
@momtomusicians: Each UC campus has their own criteria for determining Regent scholars and Chancellor reception invitees. Very possible to be Regents at 1 or 2 UC’s but not at others. UCSB tends emphasize community service along with High Stats for their Chancellor invitees.
update: got it
Same here, got the invite by snail mail
Did anyone get the regents packet besides the chancellor’s invite? I only got the invite
I also received an invite! 3.9/4.12 GPA, 1560 SAT. Bio major.
see y’all in OC >:)
@gumbymom Do all regents get the chancellor invitation? In other words, is it possible those not receiving anything from chancellor’s today will get a package later regarding regents?
My D is “higher stats” than many of the posters posting they received the letter, and I’m wondering why she didn’t get an invite.
@collegemom111111: I am sure there are more invites in the mail so I would not jump to conclusions just yet. As far as I know, Regent scholars will be invited to the Chancellor reception along with other high stat but not Regent scholarship recipients. The letters for the Reception and Regents are separate.
I got the Chancellor reception invite in the mail today, but it did not indicate anything about Regents. Does this mean I didn’t get Regents?
@LincolnsGF: Regent letters come separately.
@collegemom111111 Last year the Regents packet included an invitation to the reception and I imagine that they would want to do everything possible to encourage those people to accept (especially as it appears 90%+ turn UCSB down). That packet is probably coming very soon as it sounds like the receptions are being held earlier than last year.
@Gumbymom @Twoin18 Thanks for the information. Do you know if the chancellors invites and regents invites show up in USPS informed delivery? I have a mailpiece waiting at home for which they don’t have an image, but I think those mailpieces are usually catalogs… wishful thinking, I know.
Saw it in Reddit :
Yeah if you’re going to the UCSB reception that means you’re in the top 15% percent of their applicant pool and you’re in. I couldn’t go to the reception today but my parents went and everyone there was accepted either to the honors program or received a regents scholarship.
They give you a name tag, and if your name has a red ribbon on it, it means you’re going to receive a Regents Scholarship. Hope that helps!
Congratulations!
If I only got the invitation without the regents packet, do I still have a chance to get Regents?
I received the invitation
My son received an invite. SAT: 1590, GPA 4.35
