For everyone that got an invite today, can you post what city you live in? (and congratulations!!)
My son got his invite today. Los Angeles.
My D got her invite today, Bay Area
@collegemom111111 I don’t know how it is now, but 4 years ago our son did not get the Chancellor’s invite, but did get a Regents scholarship (which is one of the best in the UC system at $6k/year).
Congratulations to those who got it.
Thanks everyone for the info; I stumbled across this site/thread while trying to find out more info about this invitation; my D received hers in the mail today. We’re in south Orange County, CA. Congrats to those that received the invitation!
@collegemom111111 2 years ago my child received a letter getting UCSB regents invite on Feb 23. She did not get the one for Chancellors that everyone is talking about they started to receive today. Regents is separate and more money. It is harder to get. So, don’t worry, your child still has a chance. Ill bet something is coming out next week.
Hey guys, can you post ur stats if u got the chancellors reception? I have a 1540 and a 4.2 so I’m feeling like maybe I missed the cutoff for it which is fine but… I’m freakin out rn thinking I messed up my app. For peace of mind please haha
I have a 34 ACT and a 4.5 and got invited. I read somewhere that those who receive it are in the top 15% of applicants
Doesn’t that mean that half of the people who are going to be accepted get it then? 15% seems too high
Got the invite to chancellor’s reception yesterday. OOS DC area, 1500 SAT, 780 M2, 4.0 UW, ~4.6 UC GPA. Anyone know if the invite is based on stats only, or if it is more holistic (extracurriculars, clubs, awards, etc)? Also, is invite to the reception guaranteed admission to honors program/some sort of scholarship, or is it just an informal notice of admission? thx.
Are they only sent to places where receptions are held?
@NewPoster123 @Suave123 @Gumbymom @Twoin18 Thanks for answering all my questions yesterday, and guess what I see in my USPS Informed Delivery update this morning? Yep, a white envelope from UCSB Admissions!!!
Are people for the invite chosen on Statistics or is it their complete application?
@collegemom111111 are you in the OC/LA area?
@memlover123 no, we’re in the Bay Area
@collegemom111111 guess we are together in most cases, let’s see if our daughters end up at the same college congrats btw to ur D !!! We have signed up for San Jose session, let’s meet there if u also plan to stop by
Didn’t your daughter’s Regents notification contain an invite to the Chancellor’s reception? Many people who received the Regents in past years said it was also an invite to Chancellors!
@compSciLover I don’t believe that half the people who will be accepted will receive the Chancellor’s Reception invitation.
From what I understand, the invitations are sent to those who are located [relatively] close to the reception locations - so I’m guessing that top applicants from, say, Miami or Honolulu (I’m just randomly picking cities here) probably won’t receive a reception invitation.
Are we 100% sure that receiving the chancellor’s reception invitation means admission?
@noah2425 it is the complete package because at the reception, they tell all attendees that you are accepted. @collegemom111111 look at old threads regarding the Chancellor’s Reception and the admission announcement. They have done it the same way for several years. http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/21284930#Comment_21284930
