UCSB class of 2023

@lkg4answers Thanks - that thread was very informative. One poster suggested something that surprised me and I’m questioning. He or she indicated that there was some benefit to attending the reception with respect to increasing chances of getting regents. I thought the people getting regents would already know by the date of the reception. This poster was suggesting people show up and by doing so and showing interest they get regents. That can’t be right, can it?

@collegemom111111 You are correct, showing up at the reception has nothing to do with improving your chances of getting a Regents scholarship. In past years, the scholarship has already been offered by the time the reception is held.

Anyone receive a Regents invite in the mail today??

I got a chancellors reception in the mail today! My mom told me so I haven’t had a chance to look at it just yet but I’m feeling way better about this now

My son just go his today in the mail! Very exciting. Los Angeles area.

Did your son get the chancellor’s invite or the regents?

Chancellor’s through snail mail.

Did anyone get in with Physics???

Does anyone know when decisions are released for the College of Creative Studies??

I got a chancellor invite and I applied for CCS

according to informed delivery I’m getting one today!! OOS 4.4 UC gpa, 32 ACT… I’m on the lower end but idk… did anyone get a letter from them and it wasn’t chancellors or regents? Congrats everyone! Applied for pre-Econ

@taloolab congratulations! Many, but not all, are offered honors. Very few are offered Regents.

I registered for the DC reception! Does anyone know how many people are invited? How many people are notified with this “likely letter”?

After reading the thread (very helpful, thank you), here is my interpretation:

  1. Chancellor invite and Regents letter come separately
  2. Chancellor invite is a "likely" letter; you are in top 15% of applicants and unofficially accepted to UCSB
  3. Regents letters come to far fewer people - perhaps around 2% of applicants

It appears that Chancellor invites were already sent and received but Regents letters have not been sent yet. Questions I have are:

a) Do some people receive BOTH the Chancellor letter and the Regents letter?; or
b) You will receive either the Chancellor letter (already sent) or the Regents letter (which will also include an invitation to the Chancellor reception)?

Thank you!

Tried to sign up for our local reception, and it’s already full! On the waitlist. Is there any down side in terms of admissions if you aren’t able to attend?

@collegemom111111 no there is no down side in terms of admission if you are not able to attend. Which city did you try to enroll for? If it is a big city in California, spots will probably open up. The event we went to in LA had seating for 1500 people.

guys my letter apparently got lost in the mail :frowning: but I was able to RSVP for the DC event… should I email admissions for a PDF copy of the letter that was sent out?

@taloolab How were you able to get the info the RSVP is your letter is lost? ??

For those of you who have already received Chancellors invite letters, has anything changed on your admissions portal, or does your decision still say pending? Just curious… thanks!

basically I saw I had the letter on the informed delivery thing, and then I saw that everyone was saying that it was the chancellors invite so I went and googled chancellors invite rsvp and then typed in my perm number and it said that I was able to rsvp
