bleghhhh

bleghhhh

Regarding financial aid for the summer session, does it include housing too? Because on the online summer financial aid form, it does not indicate whether you want to live on campus or off campus. :(

it does 10char

how come its already april 18 and my unofficial financial letter didnt come out yet? is it cuz i didnt do the SIR?

Hey I’m still getting the error message:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error ‘800a005e’

Invalid use of Null: ‘Cint’

/AidStatus/SummerApplication.asp, line 1855

When I “verify” my units for the summer on the Fin Aid thing. I e-mailed the UCSB fin aid office and all I got back from them was “which session are you doing?” I said FSSP, but now haven’t heard back so I don’t know if I’m supposed to do anything else…

it’s much easier and faster to get a response if you call them

What is the email address for the UCSB Financial Aid Office? I could only find their phone number online. :(

Here’s the e-mail:

faweb@sa.ucsb.edu faweb@sa.ucsb.edu

It’s on the bottom of this page, where is says “Questions or Comments? Please email us:”

[UCSB Financial Aid](http://www.finaid.ucsb.edu/)

Do you have to send your SIR to get scholarships? Just asking because someone else said that earlier in the thread?

Thanks. :)

tr1p7s,

If you don’t mind me asking, what was your financial aid package for the summer session like?

Did it cover the full cost of tuition with housing too?

And what was your EFC?

Did the financial aid package include loans? If so, then how much was the loan?

Because I have a 0 EFC so I was hoping my summer session financial aid package would cover the whole cost or almost the whole cost.

Thanks. :)

So I’m really confused at this point…
I got an unofficial aid letter (or whatever it’s called exactly) and it gave me a list of scholarships, grants, and loans, which added up to the exact amount that they estimated I was going to need to pay (after they had subtracted the $800 I said my family and I would be able to pay when I filed my FAFSA -yes, I am VERY poor-).
Because of this I decided it would be safe to submit my SIR, because UCSB was the only school I could afford, due to this aid package.
BUT… I still don’t know if this unofficial aid letter will become OFFICIAL. And that’s very important for me to find out, because if they decide that they WON’T actually give me all that money, I can’t go to UCSB, and I need to know before my deadline to submit my SIR to other colleges is up.
When will I get my OFFICIAL aid letter, and where can I find it?
I’m kind of stressing about this…

hmmm i’ll just itemize the stuff i was charged for and the fin aid i got:

fssp health insurance: $153.00

fssp RHA fee: $10.00

room and board: $2,264.00

fssp program: $1,726.00

UC summer grant: $-1,300.00

pell grant: $-890.00

fssp scholarship: $-200.00

whatever is left ($1763.00) i had to pay out of my own pocket although i was offered subsidized loans but my parents didnt want to accept them as we had enough money to pay for it at the time.

the finaid page is down right now so i cant check what my efc was for last summer but i can assure you it was around the area of low to mid $1000.

ada:
the unofficial finaid award letter is quite similar to the official finaid letter. it’ll become official after you send in your SIR and a copy of the tax returns so they can finalize your official finaid letter as the unofficial finaid letter was based on numbers that you could’ve fabricated (because it was done online, thus they want proof)

Thanks, tr1p7s.

Can you update your post with your exact EFC for the summer once the information is available?

I have to turn in the Housing Contract on Wednesday and I need to know if the financial aid will meet 100% demonstrated need or not.

Let me know if the financial aid gapped you or not for last summer.

Thanks, tr1p7s.

well i dont have the finaid letter for last summer anymore. i guess they took it down but my efc for this year (08-09) was 1277 if that’s any help. i had to pay 1763 for fssp at the end

I see, so they gapped you about 500 dollars or so.

That is very helpful information because they will probably gap me around $500 too.

My total cost for both housing and meal plan for both sessions with 10 units is about $6600. So if I am lucky as you, maybe I’ll get $6000 in grants and the rest in loans or pay out of my own pocket.

Thank you very much,tr1p7s. :)

wat is FSSP

Freshman Summer Start Program.

Also, the maximum about of UC Grant you will receive for a student who is already receiving financial aid with a 0 EFC is $1600.

This means that I have to loan $5000, which I’m probably not going to. :(

Thank you tr1p7s

i was accepted in the fall and have received my unofficial fin aid letter. Am i supposed to send in tax forms to make it official?
