UCSB reception honoring top applicants CLASS OF 2019

They have an honors program for engineering also… js

@ADY360

Really? I want to go to the one at SJ, but it was already full by the time I got the snail mail :confused: If you really can open up a spot at the SJ reception please do let me know. I’d appreciate it :slight_smile:

@barca101 Thanks for the info.
@ADY360 Sorry, I was wrong. UCSB Engineering has their own honors program.

I received a letter, does this mean that I am informally accepted into my major (engineering), or just the school in general?

I had snail mail as well, I need two slots for San Jose :(( I wonder though, is it okay to still go? Has anyone ever tried that? If so, are they lenient and understanding simply letting you in, or will they kick you to the curb? I will just attend if it’s alright.

@vannah122296‌ and @rhftw55‌ yes I can open them up. Let me send an email to the registration folks at SB and tell them that I wont be bringing any guests. I dont know when exactly they will open up the spots, so keep checking frequently. Good luck! And hope to see you there :slight_smile:

I recieved an invitation through the mail and thought because of these threads that this meant I was accepted. I saw in one forum that there was one reception two years ago in Chicago where inviteed were not all admitted and it said that out of state students were not guaranteed admission. I am from New York and will be attending the reception in the city and am worried that my admission is not guaranteed.

I live in the midwest and never got an invitation to the reception, does that mean anything bad or what?
I mean are there any reception for UCSB applicants in the midwest or no?

I’m in the Central Valley and I received my letter a few weeks ago.

Anyone in the northeast get a letter?

Can someone do me a solid and post the RSVP website? My “brilliant” D threw away her invitation because she thought it was a fundraising appeal… Thanks in advance. =D>

@ocDad2015‌

I messaged you the link

@james111‌
Thanks so much! Greatly appreciated, though it looks like she will have to go to NYC if she wants to attend live. I’m happy that she remembered she got it, even though it was a bit anticlimactic…

I’m from the Washington DC area (so northeast) and yes I received a letter. Haven’t decided if I am going yet, kinda have my heart set on Davis

@walla19

Have you been to Davis before?
Davis is certainly a great school.
However, since it’s next to ranches, it gets a bit of smelly when the wind blows by.

@StevenToCollege: The essence of cow is really only noticeable around the Tercero dorms which are next to the dairy when the wind is blowing just right… My understanding is that they plan to relocate the dairy elsewhere to make room for some more dorms in the future. Over the next 10 years, UCD plans to increase enrollment by another 5000 students.

oh whut… some people who got an invitation to the reception didn’t get in? NOW I’M WORRIED.

I got an invitation through snail mail a couple of weeks ago. I am attending the reception in San Jose this Sunday. Does anybody know what to wear to this or what to expect??

It is dressy casual, nothing too fancy. And from what i heard in past posts if u are invited and from California you are accepted officially, only non-residents arent fully guaranteed admissions.

I just received an confirmation email for the reception and one of the FAQ says,

" Your invitation does not indicate that you have been admitted. However, invitations were only sent to our highest achieving applicants in select regions. "

oh why …
