UCSB rejection

I recently received my rejection from UCSB for Fall 2010. UCSB was my primary choice because of their excellent communications program.

I am a transfer student (CCC) and wanted to get some insight on any possible actions or information to take from this point.

GPA: 3.15

Like most undirected students at a community college, my first initial year I got C's and B's -- after maturing and realizing how important education was I began only earning B's and A's.

I completed all requirements (IGETC), including TAG with UCSB.

Slim list of extra-curricular activities in my application: Swim team and placing 2nd in school's persuasive speaking tournament.

I would've done more, but the majority of my time during the last few years have been working and taking care of family.

hmm… A few things I would check:
Did you have 60 transferable units?
Were there any pre-reqs for your major that you did not complete?
Is your intended major impacted?

If you still can’t figure out why you were rejected then I would call and ask so you can appeal since you met the TAG requirement. Best of luck to you!

harlequin: is communications an impacted major at UCSB? Otherwise you should have got accepted with TAG

and did you get into any other UC?

According to [UCSB Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/SelectionProcess.asp?selectiontype=prospective_transfer) I completed all transfer requirements.

For communications major being impacted, I couldn’t find anything concrete, but I don’t think it was.
From [UCSB Admissions (page 2)](http://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/SelectionProcess.asp?section=selectionprocess&subsection=reviewprocess&selectiontype=prospective_freshman): “Choice of major is not considered in selection except for computer science applicants.”

@uctransferhope: UCSB was the only UC I applied to.

I was contempt with just going to a CSU–which I got accepted to all. After doing some research and questioning what exactly I want from my education, I came to the conclusion that UCSB was where I wanted to be.

I doubted my probability of getting accepted into UCB/UCLA with my GPA. I regret not applying for UCSD.

well if you honestly think that you completed everything then I would call them! it is possible that they made a mistake

3.2 biology rejected :(

did you guys get accepted to other UCs??

rejected from sb bc i didn’t submit my supplemental application…but admitted to UCLA!

Opposite of what happened two years ago =]

UCLA that’s exciting congrats!!

@shellbelltaylor

thank you!!! :)

You got rejected with TAG? I thought it was guaranteed acceptance?!

got rejected too for political science but appealed and was ADMITTED!!!

Call them and talk to their advisors. They will tell you exactly why you were rejected. I was rejected for taking too many spring units. I showed them my winter grades and was admitted. Not an impossible thing. If you really want it, you should keep trying!

i had tag with like a 3.2 for psychology and i got rejected too.

harlequin and jamiel,

i think you guys should both call the schools up and inquire as to why you didnt get in with TAG. as long as you met all the requirements it is guaranteed admission…so id definitely call if i were you

appeal appeal appeal!! Their advisors are very friendly. I appealed through an email. Sent it to an advisor who took a look at it then he voluntarily forwarded it to admissions as appeal.

3.775 GPA
CSU -> UC Transfer! (the impossible)

Accepted at Davis & SB, pending at Irvine.

@ hurryup what’s the email address you sent your appeal to ?
You gave me hope for appealing :)

After I got out of my classes today, I’ve been calling the office of transfer admissions at UCSB every minute or so and it keeps telling me they’re busy assisting others. :(

Anyone else who’s also trying the same: What phone number are you reaching them through? I have been dialing (805)893-2882 with no luck for the last 3 hours.

yea!!! hurryup wahts the email
