Just talked to a transfer admission advisor today and they told me they cannot guarantee acceptance, but the appeal process from transfer students in our situation is a fairly simple review.

We will need to write an appeal letter like everyone else, but in our case it will only need to detail the course we did not complete for TAG.

yeah technically having english and math requirements done by fall does mean that you qualify for tag and thats what they told me they were only accepting tag people…but i know a number or non tag students that were admitted…my only guess is that in the beginning they were admitting all aplicants and then realized they were running out of room so they reduced it down to just tag applicants

@harlequin Well I have my math final on the June 2nd so I’m pretty sure I can get my teacher to grade it and write me something to verify my grade.
I guess I’m just gonna check out SD first. If I love it then I won’t even bother but if I like it I’ll end up appealing to SB just to compare.
Do you think it would hurt my appeal if I sent my SIR to SD for back up ?

from what i understand, if you’re going through the appeals process for one UC (ex: UCSD) you can SIR to a UC you got accepted to. if your appeal is approved and you’re accepted (in this case to UCSB), you just have to notify UCSD that you would like to withdrawal your admission as your appeal was approved and you’re going to attend UCSB instead. i would suggest contacting UCSD to verify before doing it tho.

the ucsb counselor told me that theyre going to start looking at appeals on june 1st because that is the last day to sir so they will be able to see how many spots they have. They told me to sir to another uc if i have been accepted, in this case that is UCSD so what im going to do it sir to UCSD and if i get admitted to UCSB i will forfeit my 100 dollars and go to UCSB there shouldnt be a problem with doing that considering its what the counselor at UCSB told me to do

Update: Since passing stats with an ‘A’ (fulfilling all requirements), I filed an appeal with UCSB on June 2nd. I wrote a simple one page summary on my fulfillment of requirements, included unofficial spring transcripts and a request for reevaluation of decision.

On June 8th I received my letter of acceptance.

GPA3.19, Art History Major, no tag, non-resident, got rejected bc I didn’t finish one of the two English courses before Fall. With my appeal I attached two recommendation letters and one certificate by my current English teacher guaranteeing I will definitely pass the course. I emailed a UCSB counselor and got her reply saying "you will receive a letter in the mail with the appeals decision in the next couple of weeks.
" NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS…

@shinnnnn: They will get back to you in a few weeks? Why so long? I wonder if your appeal takes longer because of non-resident status? Either way, it’s odd that it will take that long. Two days after I hand-mailed the letters to UCSB a transfer advisor called and asked what grades I received for a foreign language course I took this spring. He then said a decision would be made the following week–sure enough at the beginning of the week a decision was in.

If all your requirements are complete you should have nothing to worry about. Good luck, anyhow.

@mickeyavalon: Actually, they never sent me anything–e-mail or letter. Since I didn’t hear anything I decided to check the application status page on UCSB’s website and there it was.

They didn’t send me any notification about my appeal decision either, but as I’m sure anyone who’s waiting on appeal checks their app status pages religiously, it shouldn’t matter. I got my physical acceptance pack something like four days after the online update

mine is still pending in and i sent my appeal in on may 21st. I called them last week and they said they won’t know until another week or so. pretty frustrating though since some sent it in past the deadline and were notified 3-4 days later. oh well.
