I'm planning to tag to UCSB. This is my second semester ( Winter) at PCC.
I will have 30 units completed and one transferable-Math completed.
My real question is : Do we have to take two transferable English Courses before Fall 2012?
For admission to UCSB Fall 2013?

Lol pcc. I go there too. And PLEASE get those two English and math courses done before applying. I’ve seen a lot people get rejected because they ended up finishing their last English class or math class in spring after applying.

just finished english 1A before next fall then sign the contract. done :).

you can take English 1 B or 1C next spring.

@Acoustickitty123- Awkward…Haha, but I’m taking Calc 5b in my last semester in Spring 2012 will that be a problem though?
@Ferrari4XD - Alright thanks! I got kinda worried :o

Hehehe I have no idea! I suggest you call and ask on Tuesday ! PCC’s admission and records dept is do helpful and friendly.

I’ve heard my counselor telling me that UC strongly looks at when your 2 English and 1 math class was completed. If they noticed you have been working and completed them in the early school attendance then it will give you a good impression. If they realize you finished it later (As in the last semesters) then they will see you as the type of person who puts off harder classes till the end. At least that’s what my counselor told me.

But since you are applying for Fall 2013, you need to finish the 2 English and 1 Math requirement by the end of Fall 2012. Unless they change the TAG this year–which has happened. So, keep an eye out.

I also applied to TAG UCSB

Yeah… Never heard this before and I doubt it’s true.

General pre-reqs are the arguably the hardest classes to get since everyone needs to take them. Thus it is common and perfectly understandable for freshmens to not get a spot in those classes in their first or second semesters because of their low priority.

I don’t know why everyone on this forum thinks their counselors = UC admissions officers. They are not the same.

Want to know where you can petition to take more than the allowed units next semester?
- Contact your counselor

Want to know what UC’s take into account in regards to pre-reqs?
- Contact an UC admissions officer

r u guys serious? I thought we just have to finish 1 English and 1 math to sign the contract. Where did u get 2? Unless they pull up their requirement for next year. My friend has no problem getting into uci tag with 1 English n 1 math, 3.3 gpa. He will be completed his second English in spring. The same goes with me.

^^@Ferrari UCSB TAG:

The 2 required English classes is the same for all other UC TAG

lol i figured out UCSB tag required 2 english courses which is bs.

Not all TAGs are the same.

Uci tag changed it in 2011. It use to be 2 English before fall of tag

Awwww damn. -_-
So I guess I’m taking Philosophy 25 in the Summer -.-

PCCLancer, if you are trying to find a math class that satisfies the UC-Math class take Introduction to Statistics!

EAISIEST. MATH. CLASS. EVER!

Really? I’m enrolled for that class in the Spring so I’m good(:

So I haven’t finished igetc…but I qualify for UCSB tag. I wonder on the contract it says to finish igetc in spring before transferring…

WHAT? how do you know? in their rejection letter did it say this???

i’m taking three of the pre-reqs needed this Spring. I was told it wasn’t that big of a deal. passing them won’t be a problem. I got a 5 on AP english. why I have to take another one is idiotic but i guess more $$$ for the california college mafia.

I guess maybe it was a rule last year and this year? I’ve talked to people at school and on threads who got rejected from like UCSD UCSB because they were working on their last English class or required math course. If you’re unsure, talk to your counselor and she what they say. Since those two english and math are required, if you’re taking it in spring, UCs won’t know if you’re going to pass or fail.

Yeah no derp. College counselors didn’t seem bothered by the fact that I would be taking a lab/english/math to satisfy pre-req requirements. Major is totally unrelated to either subjects. A’s in most of my transferable classes.

Is this seriously a problem? Never have I heard this was an issue. Kitty explain.

What’s funny is you have to take another English class at a uc once you transfer even though you completed 2 English classes

are you ■■■■■■■■ again? every counseling i’ve met said no more english after this two. they are viewed as meeting GE requirements, right?
