UCSB Waitlist Discussion Class of 2024

@kristopherG24 Time will come? Is this an episode of a Marvel movie? Like what are you talking about? Seriously get some help!

@KristopherG24 the way you approach other people on this platform is extremely disrespectful and pretentious. saying things like ā€œfor those who were actually accepted,ā€ ā€œcongratsā€¦ you filled out your fafsa,ā€ and ā€œgreat detective work,ā€ in a sarcastic manner towards someone who is just trying to figure their chances of admittance is truly uncalled for. being condescending towards others is NOT how people should conduct themselves on a thread of hopeful seniors. i also saw when you got your own acceptance and acted in a completely disrespectful and inconsiderate manner toward other users. as a committed student to ucsb class of 2024 myself, i truly do hope you mature before we (hopefully with the virus) go to ucsb in the fall. you wonā€™t make many friends in college acting this wayā€¦ i definitely wouldnā€™t associate with this type of behavior.

MODERATORā€™S NOTE: Please knock off the sarcastic comments and bickering. Thank you for your cooperation.

Does anyone know when the next wave of acceptances off the waitlist will be? Does it happen in an organized fashion or is it more sporadic?

Bruh

I tried reaching out to the admissions office and received a vague response that gave no indicator of when the next possible wave might be. Iā€™m assuming another wave will come soon as I donā€™t think anyone has gotten off the waitlist since 5/5 unless they are full but that is doubtful

Did their response suggest at all that their might be another wave?

I just got off the waitlist 10 mins ago. 4.12 gpa low sat score but loads of extracurricular activities and really good essays

@LaraZZZ congrats! do you think youā€™re gonna accept?

Honestly who wouldnā€™t accept Santa Barbara, I got waitlisted and now rejected, and now I am forced to go to Santa Cruz

Did they already send you a rejection letter?

Also just got off the waitlist about an hour ago. OOS

Thank u so much! Tbh I thought Iā€™d get rejected. I am going to wait a couple of days because Iā€™m waiting to hear from ucla  if I donā€™t get in ucla then Iā€™ll go to UCSB.

awesome! thereā€™s no going wrong with either of those. good luck!

Pasting here what I wrote on the UCSB appeals threadā€¦My son originally rejected but accepted yesterday from appeal (undeclared). In-state, 4.0 UC weighted, 1290 SAT, all-around kid (varsity sports, programming, has a few albums/EPs/singles on AppleMusic/Spotify etc). He expressed interest in the music majors which fit in with his previous ā€œverifiableā€ experience. Also, his sister was in hospital fall of last year which interfered with applications/testing/GPA, poor guy. Honestly, we were told by his counselor it was too impossible to bother with applying to UCSB in the first place. Never listen to negative people.

Just got in off appeal as pre math major!

@happys donā€™t be on the mindset that you are forced to go to Santa Cruz. It is a great institution that you applied and got admitted to. You should be excited to go there and happy based off your username. Santa Cruz is a UC just like Santa Barbara or Los Angeles. Congrats to everyone getting pulled off the waitlist and Go Gauchos!

Hello Ik Ucsc is a good school but I really wanted to go to Santa Barbara, could I transfer after 1 year to UC santa Barbara. Let me know asap

Is UCSB already rejecting people from off the waitlist? Also has anyone got in for an engineering major off the wailist yet?

I saw a Reddit post where a guy left game programming major at UCSC and transferred to the UCSD ICAM major after the first year. UCSD is similarly ranked to UCSB. So I think if you transferred to a program thatā€™s less impacted, itā€™s totally possible. Itā€™s 100% not possible if you donā€™t try for it.
