With a 4.04 UC GPA, and 1430 sat score with a 21/24 essay, what are my chances for UCSB? Maybe percentage, or out of 10? And I do have awards from fbla, and I interned at Boeing during the summer. Also I have 250+ hours for volunteer service. Thanks!
You’ll have to provide us with a little more information. Do you have any other ECs? Are you a junior or a senior? What’s your intended major?
I am currently a junior. So this upcoming summer I am planning on doing early decision to fully apply for ucsb, if that increases my chances at all. I am trying to major in cs, and I have decided to choose ucsb for my undergrad. I did varsity wrestling for my soph year, and I also am planning to take sat math 2 and sat Korean. For aps, I already did/planning to do: ap comp sci a, apush, AP Lang, AP physics 1, ap es, ib Korean, ap Gov/Econ, AP Calc AB(all of which I passed and I am planning on passing). Another piece of info is that I have a major increase in my GPA trend. Freshman year I had an average of 2.5 GPA. Soph year I had 3.7-3.8. And last sem of jr I had 4.0.( btw from freshman to now and to senior year I took/taking/planing on taking all honors/weighted classes) haha sorry it’s rlly long
UCSB doesn’t have early decision. Application deadline is Nov 30, same as all the other UCs. Decisions then come out in mid-March.
Ohh shoot…I see thanks! I guess I have to look into it more but how are my chances for ucsb with all the info?? :))
And sorry again but is it true ucsb and UCI accept their applicants before taking their majors into account? Idk about the other ucs but my friend told me this thanks again!
UCI will accept into the University first and then into the major. They also consider your alternate major in their admission decisions. UCI does tend to emphasize GPA over test scores.
For UCSB, in Engineering they admit by major. For the College of Letters and Science, they do not.
Your upward grade trend will help but UCSB does consider 50% GPA/Test scores and 50% EC’s and essays.
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:
UCB: 12%
UCLA: 14%
UCSD: 39%
UCSB: 49%
UCD: 52%
UCI: 57%
UCSC: 83%
UCR: 90%
UCM: 92%
UCI: Match-High Match
UCSB: High Match
Good Luck.
