Err, I forgot to sign up for orientation. Is there going to be another one later in the summer?

The only one is on June 22! Cost of attendance is about 30,000 for the year everything included!

Welp, I guess that means I’m going to apply for the 55meal plan and the small 3 bed rooms.

Well, the problem with the 55 meals a quarter is that is only 5.5 meals a week. that is not enough to live (F.Y.I.). I found, meal plans are a better value with the seven day meals.

Anyone living in the Redwood Grove Apartments? Furthermore, is anyone in Crown college? What are your ages (if I may be so bold)?

Cost of attendance will vary based on where you choose to live. I’ll be paying about 25K if I get into the Village.

I was accepted as a junior transfer student from a 4 year college. Do we choose the college we want to be affiliated with or does the administration? Also, do these college assignments change every year or once we are associated with a college, do we remain attached to the same college until we graduate? Do these affiliations mean the campus is somewhat “cliquish”? Any good fraternities for transfer students?

I got into Crown college, but I applied at the village! I am 21! I am also getting the 5 day meal plan. I think you can get away with eating cereal and food saved from the cafeteria.

Anyone wants tips on good areas to live off campus, good places to hike/ explore (and where to avoid because of the heroin dealers who lurk there), or other cool things about Santa Cruz, let me know in a PM. Also, see my thread about restaurants in SC. Santa Cruz is a great town; while I can’t personally attest to the university, you should have a fun time here.

!!! The Village offers single rooms! Ok, I’m applying there.

As transfers, we can list our preferences for which college we want to be affiliated with, but we only have 3 housing options (Transfer Community, University Town Center, The Village). UCSC makes the final decision on your college. You can apply later on to have your affiliation changed.

Whoever said there is only one orientation date. You are wrong. I have a orientation date on the 22nd of July. You must only be able to go to the one in June. Just clarifying for anyone else. :)

There is only 1 date for transfers, which is the 22nd. Freshman have other options.

I said that for transfers there is only one day!

I apologize about the June thing it is on July!

1.) YEP
2.) sociology
3.) im living on campus, pretty sure in the TC. I think that and the 7 day meal plan is the most economical.

is anyone else majoring in soc? i have no idea what to do next lol. oh, and my college is college 10. i like the idea of volunteering in the community for some pretty fluff on my application for grad school… im pretty sure i cant do anything with just a bachelors

Submitted my SIR kind of late like on the 27th (was a long drawn out decision to come here or Davis, in the end I liked SC better). Did anyone pay for their orientation yet? Becuse I signed up but it never charged me…Im afraid there is like no spots left or something which would suck.

My proposed major is environmental studies/econ. And Ill be living in the transfer community just for my first couple quarters just to get adjusted.

You only get one opportunity to pay for orientation online. If you cancel the payment page, your only option is to send a check by mail. If you already signed up, your spot is reserved, but you might be charged late fees if the payment is late.

They didn’t allow me to Pay for orientation. It was defered so my financial aid would cover it!

Hey! Did anyone else apply for housing at the town center?
I’m an international econ major from SoCal but i grew up in Santa Cruz so i can’t wait to go back.

So, where are you guys going to live? I’m still unsure which housing option I want to go in to. I really want to live in the Transfer Community, but 1.5k a month is just ridiculous. I only heard terrible things about the Village, but it’s a little cheaper even with the meal plan.
