^Actually really great advice. UCSD has gotten really selective, and will probably get even more competitive in the future. Definitely don’t bank on this school.
Wait so if I got accepted undeclared instead of CS, I’ll have to go through a lottery instead of by GPA? Wow.
Accepted to second choice major: Microbiology
Revelle
UC GPA: 4.14, 4.0 UW
ACT 33 (34E, 35M, 33R, 30S)

Didn’t get in for Mechanical Engineering, however.

@422525 That is what it says on this page. Once you have met the 3.3 GPA cutoff in the required CSE courses, you are entered in a lottery.

@crawdad12 I didn’t get into Mech Eng either. Got my second choice for Aerospace though.
Accepted OoS!

Pretty happy! I got my first choice major and college at UCSD! Hoping for UCLA to go the same way – but we must take things one step at a time!
How is UCSD #4 in Bioengineering? It beats so many schools. Does anyone know how these rankings are determined?

@pristinechris That is just beyond comprehension. Your qualifications are perfect! So sorry you had this happen too.
Thanks @BunnyBlue no, actually Davis was first choice. There is a place for everyone.

Very exciting, though this is not one of my first choices, it feels good to finally get a decision back haha!
Has anyone gotten regents? If so, where does it say?
Saw I was accepted, got excited at first, then read that my major was “undeclared,” which I didn’t even apply into (I applied to CSE).
Now that I’ve read this thread, it seems as though this is happening to a lot of people. Honestly, why would they even bother admitting students if they aren’t going to get into their major? This might be okay if all you had to do was work to get a decent GPA, then apply into CSE, but after learning about the so-called “lottery system” I think UCSD is just off my list.
I’ve gotta wonder what they’re thinking though; do they really think people want to go to a school where they don’t even know if they’ll be able to study the area that interests them? If so, maybe it’s time for a reality check. :))

I can’t log in to my Application portal… I get an error that reads “There is an error in the data that was entered - your Application ID could not be verified. Please double check your information and try to sign in again.”
Does anyone know how to fix this??? I’ve triple-checked my information
Yeah I was surprised, I didn’t think that UCSD would be that hard to get into (honestly thought of it as a sort of safety) and I thought I was surely going to get in (4.45, 1530, 34, in state) but i got in undeclared instead of BE! i want to go here but it is very difficult to switch into BE, so i don’t konw if i’ll attend
@Swiper902 Why is undeclared a bad thing? I’m OOS and don’t know anything about that for UCSD. For most schools around me it is better to be undeclared… Is there something I’m missing?
@PAwind98: If you plan to change majors into one of the capped majors, then going in Undeclared and trying to switch can be very difficult, especially for the Engineering majors. There is no guarantee that you will be able to pursue your preferred major if you do attend, so many students would rather attend a school with a direct admit into their specific major.
@PAwind98 Are you logging in with your UCSD User ID, the one that starts with the letter A and then has a string of numbers? (Not the same one as the UC Application ID, which has numbers only)
