could someone please give me the skinny on each of the colleges. The app asks us to list our preference and i really don't know much about any of them other than what i have read online. Does anyone have any personal experience visiting them or know what makes each college distinct from the other. Also i am a psychology/ cognitive science major if that makes a difference

I have the same question. Is one college harder to get into than the others? I am hopefully a double major in political science and economics.

I have a friend there told me that the notable difference is the GE requirement. Some of them lay emphasis on certain fields while some provide much flexible choices of courses. You might also noticed that only John Muir, Thurgood Marshall, Earl Warren and Sixth colleges accept the entire IGETC.

I recently visited and stayed over for 4 nights. After talking with tons of UCSD students, the general consensus is that Warren, Muir, and ERC are the best…probably in that order. ERC has the nicest dorms, but also has alot of requirements.

danie, it sounds like you’re a transfer student, so that would mean that either way you would be living in The Village. The Village is a part of campus with 8 buildings. The first few are small and sort of condensed, while buildings 7 and 8 are around 8 floors and have ocean views. << Best place to live on campus. Period.

Although as a transfer student you will live in the village, you still have to pick a college. Each college has different requirements - some with more - some with less.

I’m a Psychology major as well, and on my app I have: 1: Warren (very few reqs, solid apartments, stayed at Warren and really liked it) 2: Muir (few reqs, people on campus seem to really promote Muir).

Again, if we transfer to UCSD we will be living in the village, so our college doesn’t matter that much, but if you’re a psych/cog sci major, I would recommend Warren/Muir.
