@Cunningsloth It does not hurt your chances. As long as you take the prereqs you said you’d take and pass by end of spring you should be okay. Although I highly recommend trying to at least maintain a B average, and not just pass.
Here is a timeline of the freshman applications from last Friday
2:30pm- first reports of portals being changed
2:30-4:30pm- the checklists, as well as the option to withdraw the application and the message saying that all decisions come out by late March disappear on freshman portals
4:31pm- portal updates with decisions for freshman
If today is the early batch of transfers, it will only be acceptances likely with high stats. Early acceptances last year had high stats, and some even got in for alternative majors or got into their #2 or #3 choice of college at UCSD.
does anyone see changes to their application portal yet? mine’s still the same.
Mine is also still the same
Sweet, I have an A so I should be solid. Thanks
My portal is also still the same.
Nope, no change. Just our luck that UCSD decides to do things differently this year and notify late.
kinda bummed, but i’m still going to be refreshing the portal until 5 lol.
Apparently they have a super low acceptance rate this year? I have a 3.97, going for ICAM major, disabled veteran transferring from UNLV. Anyone wanna chance me? I’m getting nervous after all this waiting now lol
@Cunningsloth Hey, I don’t think that’s true, the acceptance rates by major are pretty consistent. You can check on https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major
Also, keep in mind that all UC’s prefer California Community College students, then UC’s, then Cal States, and lastly out of state schools. The fact that you are out of state is what will hinder your chances most. If you were from a CA CC with a 3.97 you would be a shoe-in.
I just read some people on twitter saying this year rates are low (the link you gave references last year), however I’m not sure! But also I’m pretty sure they are only talking about Freshman admits this year, since transfer decisions haven’t come out yet.
I know that they do prefer CC students, it makes me nervous! But from the link you shared, I fall above the GPA range for any UC, so that’s good, right?
@Cunningsloth Yeah, your GPA is great! Also, keep in mind that generally, transfer admissions for UC’s are way less competitive than the freshman.
That’s good to know! Thanks for the reassurance now if only the decisions would come through!
How are you guys going to pay for the room and board at UCSD?? Are you all taking out loans? Or just have money?
Gonna try to get affiliated housing because I have an emotional support dog. The housing is crazy expensive! Seems better to get an apartment, but that may just be me!
I have kind of lost hope for today, if no one hears by 5pm then I am over it until at least Monday
Relax, you will get in. Checking the portal for UCSD every hour will only make time go by slower ;). Enjoy the weekend!
10 minutes left… If there is going to be any 10 minutes
Everyone seems so sure its going to be on a Friday. Is that usually when admissions decisions are released?
why are you guys depending on 5 pm? I’m confused… my friends all got in around 8/9 pm last year
