UCSD Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

@ishitak if you complete major prep before the spring and IGETC *with good grades you will have no problem getting in.

oh btw I called UCSD admissions earlier today and asked if transfer decisions would come out on april 21st this year like it did last year. The admissions rep said, “we dont have a specific date but thats a pretty good guess”.

@Skepta They might be hinting on April 20th because it’s a Friday

So no early acceptances then? In which case I’m not checking back on here then until end of April, hopefully they’re not all rejections on my end and for the rest of you! Good luck!

I just added a non-UC transferrable course to my schedule- should I update my TAU or email the UCs individually to let them know?

@gonewiththeair Both. It is best that you let the UCs know and get some type of confirmation that they know (such as them replying to your email or something). Any changes to the schedule should be noted to them just in case, UC-transferable or not.

@AyGrey Great, thank you so much!

Hey guys! I took the weekend off of checking the threads, but I am working on compiling some new info that could be helpful for all of us. Exciting news coming soon!

So, from this years schedule it says rolling after late March for transfers. Why is this important?
First of all, 2016 and 2017 both had a limited amount of transfers come out the same day as freshman and then the rest in late March. From those years it says on the release schedule that San Diego would only release admissions in late April. This year it says San Diego starts in late March AND is rolling thereafter.

This means that decisions could start this week!!! For all of us, not just some!!!

Sorry, just really excited. I hope you guys found this post helpful, I am really hoping that mean admissions start on Friday!

@skyinthesky Hey! nice researching haha. I see what you’re saying but I mean i personally feel that what you found isnt necessarily an indication that all our decisions will come out starting late march. Maybe they decided to update it from late april to late march because they’ve always released a small batch in march and rolled after. idkkk, i hope what you found holds some truth in it but I mean anything can happen, this is the first year they switch it up extensively…

@Princetonian9 that’s true, BUT for the last several years the early admissions have always been on the same day as freshman, and from asking all of my friends who have applied, and keeping tabs on the UCSD admissions on twitter, as well as the thread, no transfers have gotten in yet. Maybe this means early admissions will be Friday, but who knows. UCSB is doing their admissions totally differently this year so there is always a chance that UCSD could be changing theirs as well. Also if it is rolling that means that not everyone heard the first day, so like UCSB this year they could be “rolling” where they release batches on certain days. Who knows?

Reading all your threads throws me back to when I was eagerly waiting to hear back XD I was in the middle of tutoring a student when I saw the acceptance email and started crying XD

I’m still hopeful for this Friday, especially with that notification schedule we now have. It would be very odd to include March in the schedule if NO transfers were released in March at all, no? All us un-capped majors got our fingers crossed!

does anyone know if public health or human development are uncapped/impacted majors?

Computer Science majors, does anyone know if UCSD has taken in students that are missing some math courses? I’m missing Calc 3 and Linear Algebra.

@JUROD211 Are you taking them this semster? If not your chances might not be as good since CS is impacted. Im not 100% sure tho so don’t be too stressed.

@JUROD211 from what iv heard missing Linear algebra is excusable, but calc 3 is a must for CS.

@Skepta @cstransfer123 No, I’m not. I’m taking more CS courses currently. I also haven’t taken any physical science courses other than AP Bio in HS.

@JUROD211 Oh so you havent taken any physics classes? Ya I really dont think they can accept you without atleast the first two. Personally taking 3 semesters of physics has been the worst part of my college experience so you probably made the right decision lol

@cstransfer123 haha, yeah that was my first thought when going into CS, I didn’t want to do any physics or chem, I still don’t get why many places require them for non-engineering students. I figured I might at least have a shot with a 4.0 gpa, several CS courses, and honors program completion.
