UCSD Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

@JUROD211 If it makes you feel any better, I did not take Linear Algebra nor did I take any Physics courses. I did however take Astronomy to fulfill the IGETC requirement, and I got my life science taken care of from AP Biology in high school as well :D! Always have hope. They could still accept you.

@JUROD211 Id have a 4.0 without physics too :((

Anyways you have a 4.0 so you definitely have a good shot. Good luck man!

@JUROD211 Hey! Nice stats, but i just wanna tell you something, last year i applied for regular bio and I had a 3.9 gpa, i was missing only 1 major prep class and I wasnt accepted… i applied from another uc though so idk

@Princetonian9 That is because you applied from another UC. They are very very strict with UC → UC transfers, because they expect all prerequisites to be readily available to take at your UC. Many community colleges lack some prerequisite courses, and therefore UC’s grant a bit of wiggle room with prerequisites for CCC → UC transfers, from what I know.

@AyGrey If the class is offered at your school and is a prereq there isn’t much wiggle room for capped majors from my understanding.

But I guess no one knows for sure. It’s always worth a shot. I applied to two schools where I didnt have all the prereqs done (UCSB, UCLA). I was rejected from UCSB and I’m sure I will also be rejected from LA but it is worth a shot.

Hey guys, really hoping the early admissions start tomorrow. What are your guys thoughts on this?

Hopefully it is tomorrow but aren’t they on spring break? Would they be able to roll out admissions during spring break? idk @skyinthesky

@choukevin that’s true, but school is not always shut down during spring break, and I would think that admissions would be at least working on transfer admissions. It does not say anywhere that admissions is closed this week, I am just trying to stay optimistic!

also guys from the UCSD website it says this for transfer applications
MID-MARCH THROUGH APRIL
Transfer admission decisions will be posted on the Applicant Portal.

I am so confused :confused:

http://admissions.ucsd.edu/transfer/?_ga=2.217900560.740110388.1522362100-925436704.1513706213&_gac=1.86954346.1521834171.Cj0KCQjwy9LVBRDOARIsAGqoVntkjx3WYc9nyzY9xCk-wgNhnDDURfh4MfqqsJAlGd0MZiehGdzyetAaAlnjEALw_wcB

i’m really hoping on tomorrow (since I’m a non-capped major at that, too) but I wouldn’t be surprised if they wait until April.

@lovela I feel you on that

I know y’all are probably sick of me posting on here, but, I have yet again found something new
I do not know when early decisions will be made, but I have predicted that the majority of transfers will be hearing April 20th.

2016- Admissions for most transfers come out on 4/22, Transfer triton day is 14 days after on May 7th
2017- Admissions for most transfers come out 4/21, Transfer triton day is 14 days after on May 6th
2018- Transfer triton day will be May 5th this year, so 4/20, a Friday, would be 14 days prior

I am reallyyyyyyyy hoping some early decisions come out tomorrow, and if they don’t I think we will all be hearing back on 4/20

@skyinthesky good detective work

@skyinthesky either way its gonna be a good 4/20 :wink:

@skyinthesky Yeah, I mentioned that the decisions would be on April 20th :frowning: you stole credit from me…

So if you will have all your pre-reqs finished by end of spring, but have all of them done except for one in progress during spring will I be out of the running for admission? I’m not a capped major.

@AdultSwimFan not trying to take credit from you, sorry if it came off that way. But I did do some research of my own and honestly, it’s hard to keep track of who is saying what on which thread. Sometimes I feel like I was cursed by finding college confidential because it makes me get all paranoid about decision dates

I wish they’d tell us before freshmen. Freshmen don’t need to know early! I want an off campus apartment but I need to know where I’m going first. I don’t have time!

@skyinthesky haha no worries dude, I was just messing around.

@OhWhatsHerName Exactly! We make up about 18% of Freshmen applicants which are 100,000+ of them who applied. It’s kind of strange because we should be the ones hearing early since we are fewer.

@OhWhatsHerName I think the reason why they get to us later is cuz of the TAU. I know for a fact that the schools I’ve been accepted to so far used the winter grades I put into my TAU for my admission.
