UCSD Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

@ericbadmon I wished they Didn’t do the TAU cause I got my first C that semester and that dropped my gpa from 3.9 to a 3.7 smh

@ericbadmon I’m sure that’s it and I’m thankful for the TAU, but I’m still so impatient!

@skyinthesky when you said decisions for “most” transfers, does that means some people (such as non-capped, etc) got their decisions earlier, in 2016 and 2017?

@hailey5799 from what i know UCSD isn’t that picky with finishing pre-reqs if you’re a non-competitive/non-capped major. it’d be different for CS or engineering, but i think you’ll be fine!!

@lovela yes, 2017 and 2016 definitely had some transfers from non-capped majors hear early, but only the same day as the freshman, then the rest heard back the days I put in the post

Can someone tell me my stats ?
Human Biology Major
GPA 3.07
Most prerequisite
I took the non calculus based physics.
Local Student

@KryingK here are your stats:
Human Biology Major
GPA 3.07
Most prerequisites done
took the non calculus based physics.
Local Student

lol just kidding I’m assuming you’re asking what are your chances…to be honest your GPA is on the low side as previous years lower percentile admits usually had a GPA of around 3.3-3.4 for your major. Also, if you have most of your prerequisites done but not all of your prereqs done that could hurt you too. How are your ECs or PIQs? While you might not have the greatest chance of being admitted into UCSD, maybe your ECs or PIQs could make up for it?

hi everybody, i’m not lying when i say i just spent the last hour and a half going through every reply trying to figure out what th heck is going on with my application! the application portal still gives me the chance to withdraw!? i applied as a cognitive science major, the only prereq that was available at my ccc were calculus courses which i did not take because i only needed it for ucsd and i needed to finish my general ed courses such as public speaking and my second english course. my alternate major was psychology with a specialization in cognitive psychology and i did complete the 3 courses for that major. do you think that they would consider my alternate major?

@srafiq I wouldn’t worry about the withdrawal option. It’s still so early. But since you have the prereqs done for your alternate that seems like a good chance.

thank you so much!

Guys I’m actually dying. I’m pretty sure I’ll be admitted with my stats but I just want it to be official.

UC GPA: 3.94
Major GPA: 4.0
15 units of Scholars classes
All Major prep and IGETC finished by end of Spring
EC: Support self via a management position at a large restaurant.
PIQ: Heavy (due to a rough adolescence) but definitely unique. One of them just ok though.

If any transfer admits do come out today it’d probably be at 3pm given patterns of years past, but I’m getting a feeling it’s not happening. Like @skyinthesky said it probably won’t be until mid April, but it won’t keep me from checking my portal like a mad woman.

Fingers crossed y’all!

@Snoozekitten i’m positive you will get in! and i know what you mean, i’ve checked like 3 times already today

Lol, do something more productive!

Nothing yet :frowning: …if not today I am coming back end of April smhh

Does anybody know if you can still submit major change requests?

Application is still pending. Was anyone admitted today? If not it looks like the “late March” for transfer admissions beginning is wrong- we can probably expect to hear back on April 20.

Damn today was hella disappointing, i thought at least some of us would hear back

Yeah, I’m disappointed in the admissions committee for the false info. Well, don’t be mad guys because we have 20 days to go. Goodbye March and hello April!

@Vaneeters You shouldn’t worry… if we’re talking about grades received after fall, the TAU can only help you. It because the grades you put after fall aren’t counted into the GPA used for admission. So your GPA will still be 3.9. But idk how it works exactly, cuz they obviously see those grades, ya know? Cuz I know for me, they for sure used the 2 A’s I got in winter intersession, which were in two extremely important classes. I don’t know if they actually used the A letter grades or just used the fact that I completed the classes for my acceptance, but I think the As helped in my case

@ayylmaoooo It’s too late now, I know cuz I tried changing it a month and a half ago. You’re gonna have to wait to see if you’re accepted or not an then try to change it. Call them about it then
