Every Friday is a let down now because I’m so sure that they’ll finally release some decisions and then it just doesn’t happen. It didn’t help that they said they would release some in March, but I had already lost faith in the estimations they gave us when mid-march became late march. I dont know why they didn’t just tell us April like all of the other schools when they had no actual intention of releasing any decisions this month. Basically I’m still upset like I was last week when I complained on this thread. I just don’t know why they would get our hopes up for no reason. I wouldn’t have been upset if they had said from the beginning that they were doing an April release like so many others. This will probably be my last complaint on this thread until we get to late April and they still haven’t released decisions for some unknown reason. Looking forward to it.
@itsyaboiUCLA dude, stop complaining over something that you already know won’t happen tell the end of April. It literally tells you when you log in to the portal that decision are at the end of April.
@Mycatsnameispups exactly, I mentioned the portal’s statement about decisions will be released at late April apparently nobody on this thread wants to believe it, the UCSD website indicates it starts from mid-March but god know when was that website last updated. Now this thread is full of rants about the “late decision” regardless the portal clearly states the decision would not come early
@Mycatsnameispups @siarota We all know that decisions will be posted by late April. But, I totally feel @itsyaboiUCLA. We were told on the websites that it would start late or mid-March, and we should be hearing some decisions by now. Clearly, UCSD isn’t taking its transfer applicants seriously this year.
Guys guys guys… let’s not get too angry in the process of waiting lol. The two folks who replied above, I agree with you but I do understand everyone else on here. We have been waiting forever but what’s a couple more weeks now? The anxiety is real but we gotta play it chill. Let’s relax, enjoy a couple seasons of The Office while we wait and have some good laughs. Good luck to us all and hopefully UCSD gives us some love come late April.
@Mycatsnameispups @siarota I agree that this may not be the best place for complaints, but perhaps neither of you understand that “by the end of April” doesn’t necessarily mean that all of the decisions will be released “at the end of April.” UCSD always says that decisions will be posted by the end of April, but that has never stopped them from releasing some decisions early when they say they will. That being said, I will have to take this as a lesson in patience. It was never a guarantee that I would have been among the admits in March and I shouldn’t have felt so entitled to one. I think I will have to take the advice of @roohafzahmami101 and rewatch a couple seasons of the office. I maintain hope that there will be an early batch of admits, but I won’t be so quick to broadcast my frustration on a forum where it will be taken, rightly, as not helpful to a situation we can’t change.
You know there is a good chance that some transfers did here back same day as freshmen but that those transfers aren’t among us at CC.
@itsyaboiUCLA have you read the portal message?
Thank you for applying to UC San Diego. We are currently reviewing applications for fall 2018.
We will post application decisions here by the end of April.
I think it is very clear it means decisions will be posted by the end of April. Unless your portal says otherwise
And those early decisions are mostly the chsncellor’s reception (or it may be called differently in UCSD, the name is from UCSB and every UC have a similar program), they do get early admissions due to their excellent application, but I’m afraid that’s not most people’s case. Most people like you and I are in the regular students batch waiting until late April
Do you have a source to back this? I am also in a similar predicament and what you said would be incredibly reassuring. As far as I’m aware, they do take the TAU into consideration and also factor it in to your overall GPA. The GPA you initially inputted in November changes when your submit your TAU before the 31st. I could definitely be wrong though.
It’s ridiculously stressful. We’ve been all working very hard for a solid amount of time… all leading up to this moment right now. We’re all getting more anxious as decision day gets closer. We can taste it. It’s just around the corner. The weeks drag as we all are now living for ultimately uneventful Fridays. I will not miss this.
That said, don’t be upset that you haven’t heard anything yet. It’s a good thing. We want them to spend as much time as reasonably possible on each of our applications. This decision will undoubtedly alter the direction of each of our lives. As far as I’m concerned, they can take all the time that they need to make this decision.
Less than 30 days, folks!
Good Luck to All!!
@siarota I think the chancellor’s reception thing would be the regents scholarship, but I couldn’t say for sure since I’m not that familiar with I UCSB. I dont doubt that they will be posted by late April. But I must reiterate that that doesn’t mean that the decisions will exclusively come out in late April. I would also not be so sure that you wouldn’t be in the early batch of admits. I dont know what your stats are, but if you have above like a 3.9 for an uncapped major, I would say you would have a very reasonable shot. Historically, a much more significant number of students are admitted early than just a few percent. Of course that’s all speculative and I agree that at this point the evidence points overwhelmingly to a late April decision.
@itsyaboiUCLA wait do you know of people who have received the chancellor’s reception invitation?
@choukevin I do not. I’m not even sure what it is.
@itsyaboiUCLA honestly dude, you shouldn’t have to explain yourself for expressing your frustration. this is an open space for anyone to voice their opinions, ask questions, etc. both the website, portal and past admissions make it clear that decisions would start mid-march and end late april. because it didn’t happen, it is frustrating! it is on ucsd, being the prestigious school it is, to keep their website updated. it’s not in any way your fault for assuming mid-march, you were simply using the resources they have made available to you! it says it loud and clear on their website! this is an extremely stressful time for all of us and rather than keeping those feelings of frustrations pent up, go ahead and let it out! most of us will be here to support you because we understand where you’re coming from. rather than utilizing anger, we should approach one another with compassion. what good will speaking negatively to another do? once again, i understand where you’re coming from! but we got just a month left, we can do this!
@itsyaboiUCLA ok just curious I wasn’t sure if people actually started receiving stuff, but I agree with @matchamilktea , this is exactly what a forum is used for. these past few months have been stressful for applicants so I can def empathize with you
@rainingliquid27 MsSun said it on her website. She’s a former UC graduate specializing in UC admissions for several years now, You can google it and check. Sorry I dont feel like trying to look for it lmao but you should be able to find it pretty easily. But apparently they only factor in the fall GPA and anything past that, while they can look at it, it doesn’t go into your gpa for admission
Ms Sun has not updated UCSD acceptances as she has for UCSB and all of the other UCs that have started admissions, so no one had heard. Also, chancellors receptions at schools are only ever for freshman not for transfers
Hey guys! sorry for the late response, but can someone chance me?
Major: Anthropology

good Luck Everyone!
@ugh4145 looking at your stats, i think you have a good shot at UCSD! https://ir.ucsd.edu/undergrad/stats-data/admissions/transfer.html states the average gpa for transfer is around 3.51-3.6, and I think this is bumped up from majors such as compsci, those majors that are super competitive at UCSD-- so, with your above average GPA with a non-capped major, I wouldn’t worry too much.
