UCSD Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

@lovela thanks for the quick response!!

Well I was just accepted to UCSB, finally heard back from one UC.

Same, just got my acceptance, at least my safety is a go, so relieving tbh.

That is my safety also. I’m going for UCB or Georgetown.

ucsb was my safety too! i recognize a lot of names from other threads; and i know all of us have literally been DYING to hear from at least one UC and we got it!! only positive vibes for the rest of our decisions now. :slight_smile: (probably) 20 more days for UCSD!

@Mycatsnameispups some of my friends from high school go to georgetown and it’s an amazing school!! good luck!!

Anyone know what happens if you screw up a class during your winter Intersession, but you retake it during your spring semester?

That’s the only thing worrying me because my gpa is within the range, essays were checked over and over, pre requisites all done by spring, igetc also complete by spring and my major is not capped but this class really messed me up and I’m afraid it will do something to my admission. I got accepted to SB and riverside with this though ?? Would also like to add that this class was not needed for my major

@choukevin
lol , thanks.
I was admitted to CSULB but denied to san diego state and I am local for San Diego and had all the required classes completed.

Anyone from a community college that is applying as a Public Health major? If so, how do you get in if you can’t take FMPH 40 at a community college? Apparently you have to take that and at least get a B in order to get in as that major?

got accepted into UCSB (tagged) but really want to get into UCSD. I heard it’s easier for anthropology majors to get in since it’s not impacted but I read an article that UCSD got the second highest applications this year so that’s throwing me off

CS majors you have any idea what the GPA cut off will be this year? Approx

@abcln123 Good luck! I’m an anthropology major here, although I originally applied and was accepted as a human development major. I’m so happy I switched! I am loving the department. Let me know if you ever have any questions about the major here.

@blackonyx Thank you! I’m curious about what people are going to do with anthropology after graduating. Do you or know what you plan to do with the major after graduating or do you know other people’s plans? I’m not sure what I want to go into; I just know that I want to do something in travel.

@abcln123 that’s a good question LOL and one I have myself! Anthro is a super fun major but it’s one of those what the heck do I do when I’m done kind of things. One thing I would suggest is really get to know the professors and take smaller classes when you can. Last quarter I had an UD anthro class with less than 30 people and really got to know the professor super well! It is an extremely small department, my one prof today said there’s probably about 160 or so in the major which is crazy considering how big the school is. The TAs are typically getting their doctorate in some sort of speciality in anthro and there’s not many of them either. All the TAs I has last quarter I have again now. Just really get to know the profs and TAs and they can potentially help you network! Side note, everyone I’ve had so far from the anthropology department is super awesome and nice! Maybe a couple I’d stay away from, but definitely good vibes all around.

I want to change my alternate major and I emailed the admissions people but they haven’t gotten back to me… should I call?
