@AyGrey Pre-Math is not a relegation or anything. They just want to see how well you do in your first semester before actually granting you major status.
Gonna get fired for being on my phone while at work RIP
@likeschowder i got waitlisted :-/ i had pretty good leadership roles in the community as a cadet at the local police department and a volunteer at an elementary school among other things. I just wanna get off the waitlist aha, I think I’m gonna have to accept my admission offer for sf state because the last day is may 1 to accept. don’t wanna be left without a college in the end!

Bro I should be doing diffeq’s right now. UCSD is hurting me.
@likeschowder @kateee thIS IS REAL THIS IS ME I’M EXActly where i’m SUPPOSED TO BE NOW
@UCStudent951 Ahhhh gotcha I thought you meant UC Santa Barbara. That’s where I got into. I have doubts about San Diego lol. But yeah you’re right you can easily switch. And ME TOO. I am not going to graduate school. That’s mainly for people who want to be legit mathmeticians or professors. I just want the BA in Math which is the easiest to get and is just as prestegious as a BS. After that I plan to be a developer/computer programmer.
jk i’m not exactly where i’m supposed to be CUZ COLLEGES WONT RELEASE THEIR DANG DECISIONS
@UCStudent951 wait the cal grant showed up on your UCD financial aid award too? Crap I’m so worried now…UCSB shows my cal grant included. However, I didn’t see it on my UCD award.
@srafiq Like I said, you have a good chance to get off the waitlist. I had no EC’s and a 3.2 when I got off the waitlist.
Does anyone know if the SD portal goes down before decisions are released?
I’m trying to learn Taylor and Maclaurin polynomials for my test and UCSD is sitting there like “hah she gon fail her test let’s mess with her”
I already have a ucsd email and am in their school system as a “student,” any way I can check something to see if i got in, kinda like the old housing trick haha
@SuperH687 You can totally change your major once admitted. You just have to talk to a counselor, apply for that major, and take the necessary classes. You might not be accepted by the department, but you can totally try.
@likeschowder @UCStudent951 Damn you guys are the only people I have seen post in this thread that are math majors as well. I was considering doing the financial math track but decided to go with applied math for UCSB. The main reason being that I believed the financial track would limit my options in the case that I wanted to attend grad school. Most grad schools in any math discipline require real analysis and some more proof based courses which aren’t included in the financial math track but could be taken as electives I believe.
Not sure if you are interested but UCSB appears to have a really fantastic Actuarial Club that you should look into. I’ll be joining if I do end up going there.
Are they up? Bc my portal is still pending.
I’m starting to lose hope a little
@bcgyoo That’s why I’m considering switching my major. Of course, financial math is a suuuuper lucrative field, but like my friend said, any math-related major should have to take Real Analysis at least once in their life. So it’s either between doing finance math and taking those courses as electives, or derailing completely and going pure math.
Welp, I don’t really think that we’re going to hear from them. But we got next week and this time, we know it for sure…
@likeschowder thanks for the information. I will try that if UCD is the option I choose. Good luck to you and all for UCD and UCSD
