Ucsd

its like
a l History/Social Science – 2 years required
Two years of history/social science, including one year of world history, cultures and geography; and one year of U.S. history or one-half year of U.S. history and one-half year of civics or American government.

b l English – 4 years required
Four years of college-preparatory English that include frequent and regular writing, and reading of classic and modern literature. No more than one year of ESL-type courses can be used to meet this requirement.

c l Mathematics – 3 years required, 4 years recommended
Three years of college-preparatory mathematics that include the topics covered in elementary and advanced algebra and two- and three-dimensional geometry. Approved integrated math courses may be used to fulfill part or all of this requirement, as may math courses taken in the seventh and eighth grades that your high school accepts as equivalent to its own math courses.

d l Laboratory Science – 2 years required, 3 years recommended
Two years of laboratory science providing fundamental knowledge in two of these three core disciplines: biology, chemistry and physics. Advanced laboratory science classes that have biology, chemistry or physics as prerequisites and offer substantial additional material may be used to fulfill this requirement. The final two years of an approved three-year integrated science program may be used to fulfill this requirement.

e l Language Other than English – 2 years required, 3 years recommended
Two years of the same language other than English. Courses should emphasize speaking and understanding, and include instruction in grammar, vocabulary, reading, composition and culture. Courses in languages other than English taken in the seventh and eighth grades may be used to fulfill part of this requirement if your high school accepts them as equivalent to its own courses.

f l Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) – 1 year required
A single yearlong approved arts course from a single VPA discipline: dance, drama/theater, music or visual art.

g l College Preparatory Electives – 1 year required
One year (two semesters), in addition to those required in "a-f" above, chosen from the following areas: visual and performing arts (non-introductory level courses), history, social science, English, advanced mathematics, laboratory science and language other than English (a third year in the language used for the "e" requirement or two years of another language).

if you went beyond those minimum requirmeent, for example three years of a language and such..

the rest of your point detribution looks fine, your totall might be arounf 7800 which is perfect for UCSD.

yeah i think went above the minimum by the time i am a senior...
5 years of math (geometry, algebra 2, trig/precalc, ap calc, ap stats)
4 years of sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, ap physics)
4 years of foreign language (spanish1, spanish2, spanish3, ap french)

thus: of the 7 years required in math, science, and foreign language, i had 13 years...i think that would be enough...would you?

im sure your ok, you might not get the full 500 points but you might get most of them about 400 or 300 iono

correct me if I'm wrong.. but doesn't education environment apply if you come from a BAD school? not one that sends a lot?? also, I don't think you're a 1st generation college student, but don't quote me on that

either ways.. good job!! ^_^ still trying to figure out my last 500...

katt8's right so 7664-150-200, ur at 7314 but when you add those 400 points from a-g courses ur at 7714 so that looks pretty good

214 points above what you need! Well.. I say you're in pretty good shape

for personal challenges, if I have 2 sisters with epilepsy (and could tweak it to be involved in my life.. because really, not that much tweaking is needed) do you think I could get some points? (ahhh I really wish I didn't have to exploit them so.. but what's a girl to do??)

aww sorry to hear about your sisters, yes that is definetely a personal challege, talk about how it affected your family life and all the challeges you faced..that would probably be 300 or 400 points.. so u need 500 huh...do u have community serivice hours...leadership...post your point distribution

Step I - Academic Review Maximum Consideration
Uncapped Grade Point Average (GPA)
-4200
Scores of All Required Exams
-2800 (2040 SAT 1, 760 m2c, 700 bio)
Number of "A-G" Courses Beyond the Minimum
-??? (I HAVE to take religion.. so this probably screws over any chance I have of getting any extra)

Step II - Additional Academic Factors
Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC)
-I don't think I'm in top 4% (that's like 5 people -_-)
Educational Environment
-nope

Step III - Socioeconomic Factors (nope to both)
Low Family Income
First Generation College Attendance

Step IV – Personal Characteristics and Achievement Factors
Demonstrated Leadership
-president of my math/science club.. probably no points though
Special Talents/Achievements/Awards
-presidential service award (only junoir year though), a couple sports awards (nothing special), perfect attendance (:) what a nerd I am)
Community and Volunteer Service
-200 hours (+100 this summer)
Participation in Academic Development Preparation Programs
-uhhhh summer school at a CC?
Special Circumstances/Personal Challenges
-sisters

that's it.. I don't know if I'll actually get points for some of them.. but 7000 from gpa/sats! whoot!

hurdle.. I'm feeling inquisitive.. why not post your stats?

i admire your inquisitiveness, but i really dont have any sats, going to be a junior next then we'll see...anyway

if you have over 200 hours of community service you get 300 points, so your good there. plus the presidents of clubs might get you some points and plus your sisters will fall under your special circumstances category, about 300-400 ...so there you go you'll have about 7700 just like Grad'06.:)

^haha who knows.. give hope to the hopeless!!

well anyways.. I'm sure you'll do well next year!

i hope so :)

thanks to both of you. i got a little tired last night so i went to bed. do you know if there is a specific site that shows the calculation for admission for the other UCs? and what does the essay play in this?

Go to this websaite and scroll to the bottom. UCSD and Davis have the clearest explanations of their standards:

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/general_info/uc_reviews/freshman_app.html

Bump! Bump! Bump!

yo aznballer why'd you bump this, do u have a question?

hey i just wanted to know the differnece between the colleges in UCSD... which is the best to chose?do different colleges look for different things...can your college determin admission?

^they have different GEs

will the 7500 points cutoff increase for this year's applicants?

yeah it could...it increased from the year before.

dont laugh..but, wut are GE's...
