I don't like new enrollment policy.
Why is 11,5 units?
Should be at least 12 units.

It’s 11.5 units so you sign up for 2 classes on the first pass instead of 3. They switched it so that students with less units could still get some of the required classes that they need without the greedy sadistic seniors taking them all for fun.

lawl… This policy also does not allow people to get on the waitlist on the first pass. Just found out from first hand experience. I think they are just trying to mess with our minds during midterm weeks.

they will let you enroll in the typical 19.5 units by the time that the second pass comes around, and more after the first day of classes.

just be selective on which classes you think will fill up first.
like all logistical changes we have seen on campus, i’m sure we will get used to this after a few times at it. and i feel like no matter what system you use to register for classes, we will all complain about how it’s stupid and makes no sense or how you can’t get any classes because greedy sadistic seniors have taken up the spots that you are required to take for your major while they are just doing it for fun.

What is this 11.5 units first pass thing? I might be transferring in the fall and trying to learn of everything, lol.

@kkthxby3 are you a transfer waiting for waitlist decision?

^no…but I would like to know what is going on as well.I got accepted as a transfer for fall 2012. How do they make sure that every transfer gets their class. For example, I am an EE major and they recommend me to take EE 15, EE 25, and EE 35 for my first semester there. Do they calculate how many EE majors they have…and make sure every one of them gets a spot if they haven’t taken those courses already?

That’s only a recommendation. No one guarantees you anything.

I was accepted for transfer. Currently deciding between UC San Diego, USC, and GA Tech. But what is this 11.5 units thing? A cap on registration?

There will now be “passes” during enrollment. During the first pass, essentially everyone picks 2 classes, due to the 11.5 limit, to register in first. During the second pass you can choose two more classes I believe, and then I’m pretty sure there’s a 3rd pass for all of your other classes. It’s basically just like prioritizing registration so that people who really want/need a class can get in over other people who may not need it/want to take it for fun/greedy sadistic seniors as mentioned before. I think we’ll get used to it. It’s not really a big deal. I am kind of ****ed that, being a regents scholar, priority registration only works for first pass classes. Then again, we wouldn’t want any greedy sadistic regents taking up all the classes now would we ;)
